Definitely an excellent review that correctly identifies many of the best aspects of the SOW franchise.

Or 2nd Texas Infantry to you. To us he was the newest member of our little brotherhood that spends all their free time trying to recreate history.

Wow. Such a terrible tragedy. Made all the more poignant to learn he was just 34 - a few day shy his 35th. We always seem to lose many of our best and brightest, either by war, heroism, or tragedy, far too soon.

My most sincere prayers to the Bonin family.

Very sad to hear this. I have exchanged some emails with him over the years and I felt like some real personality shown through the typing.

So very saddened and sorry to read this. I'm learning so much from so many here. May God Bless and comfort all of those left behind.

My best to all...

It is really sad to lose a comrade with no warning. We have a little better appreciation for how the line soldiers felt after a battle when one of their squad members that was there in the morning is gone forever.

Rest in peace John.

Not a scenario generator, but Sandbox is very similar. You have many battle options to choose from; attack, hunt them down, defend, line of sight, objectives, etc..

I believe the GCM MP group also has random scenarios or something similar.

Aw, nuts. I've managed to get a couple of friends to play MP with me but only coop versus AI. Yellabellies too scared at the prospect of seeing me on the other side of the field.

Ah, well. I suppose the superior general is he who needs not fight.

Does this mean Scripted actions are now possible for AI in multiplayer? As I've understood there has only been dynamic AI without scripted waypoints etc. before..

Unfortunately not. For head to head action scripting is obviously unnecessary. However, for coop play, this would be a great addition. Hopefully, this will be considered for the next engine. It's not just a matter of requesting it, preliminary testing has shown this too buggy.

NSD will no longer be selling SOW from our site. Matrix will be selling it for us. This gives us more time to make games! Nothing much changed, just where you go to buy. Scourge of War version 1.5 with replay!

Yes. And if you do, I believe you can download the full 1.5 Matrix version of the game (without having to download 1.4 first).

Yeah, that's a huge advantage of a publisher, they can print much less expensively than we can.

I was just looking at the prices at Slitherine, and my God $39.99 for the Boxed, and Download Version? NO ONE can beat that price for a game of this quality.

NorbsoftDev and Slitherine Inc announce a publishing agreement.

Announcement on Matrix Games Site

This is the business deal that has been in the works. We think that this will be good for both parties and for the wargaming community as a whole.

If you remember Norb a discussion (via post) we had about the DRM over 2 years ago, and how reluctant I was about purchasing SOWgb because of the serial activation. You promised me that you would eventually be removing the Serial activation which I took as truth, and purchased the game. I take promises seriously, and you held up your end of the bargain. Not too many people today keep their promises they make, you have Norb.

Thank You very much Norb for keeping your promise you made too me.

4) For people who have already bought all the games and add-ons, will the DRM be removed? Or would we have to buy new versions at Sliterine/Matrix to get this?

Thanks.

Big question:

Will people who buy the Matrix Chancellorsville standalone game be able to play multiplayer with people who have SOWGB?

I have no answers to any of these questions. SOWCV may only work with SOWCV. I have to figure out the answers to these questions and any solutions very quickly.

Good question...not a clue. Once the dust has settled, maybe we'll be able to run some tests. But right now, we're kinda in a Flurry of Transition. And all our efforts are focused on making the various installs and transition codes as painless as possible for our present audience of loyal fans, and our future crowd of new friends...we're hoping for.
