TOPIC: Brand New Recruit

Brand New Recruit 7 months, 1 week ago #1

First of all I would like to thank and salute my fellow Northern and Southern brothers for all the add-ons
and modifications that they have done.

And also the many great articles and information in the forum.

I bought Gettysburg and Chancellorsville in 2013 and just could not grasp troop movement.

Perhaps because I only played chess and combat flight sims, I had trouble deploying troops in formation.

I have always been a very serious student of history and especially the Civil War.

About two months ago, the fire was lit again after re-reading some of Stephen Sears and Shelby Foote's never old and always great works.

I am deeply into it as they say and also bought Antietam.

I still prefer to command only a brigade and marvel on those u-tube videos how someone can move a long line in such a straight and seamless fashion.

Once again, many thanks for all the forum members and their contributions.

I'm still enjoying this game after 4 years and just now getting into scripting some scenarios. This is really a well crafted game.

For me, the trick to commanding Corps and Armies is to know when to TC and when to let the AI do its thing once you have issued sensible orders to your commanders. I'm not saying it's easy, but it is manageable.

You should try multiplayer. We have a strong group going at sowmp.com

It's a great way to get tips and coaching, and it's the most realistic you'll ever experience. We sometimes get close to 10 players per side.

Thank you simovitch,

I will try that strategy out.

I think soon I will graduate to leading a division.

I'm still practicing with the many brigade possibilities that are available.

Thanks Mike.

I will check out the MP link and see if you use chat or team speak.

I have never done MP with any sim before but this one might be very good.
