  • Hi

The scenario editor saves the scenario in the Scenarios folder of the DLC Ligny folder.

I think you can create a folder like that in the game directory also if you don't own the DLC.

Probably there's a way to make the scenario editor saving directly into the scenarios folder in your documents folder but I have to take a look at it

Thankyou for your help but that is all Greek to me. I thought that if I launch a program the necessary files would be already there

  • Do you have steam or matrix version?

I think the issue raised with the last SDK version update or with the last patch, something that should be addressed, of course

  • To make the editor work I had to install the SDK into the root directory of the game (where the SOWWL.exe is)
The editor is a sub directory of the SDK and it seems some paths are relative.

    Game directory/SDK/SowScenarioEditor/..

Don't include the SOWWLSdk folder its just used to pack the files.

I just checked and if trying to run the editor from another location I get the same error message you posted.
(The editor released in v1 of the SDK runs from any location, but even so needs to be in the same directory to work properly, having access to maps and other files)

(But I have Steam version and the Matrix version may have a different structure).

  • Its not quite right.
whole SDK folder goes in the game folder, and editor is a sub directory.

    Edit:
One more thing, as you seem to have installed in Program Files, which is a really bad idea, you will have to run absolutely everything as Administrator.

  • yes, I saw. ;)
Its a system folder and anything installed there is always going to have problems with permissions and access rights.
Really, really, really a good idea to install software outside of Program Files/Program Files (x86).

But its ok with Admin rights generally.

Can you start the editor when its installed in the the path I showed? If not I can't help.

I have moved the whole Steam folder which includes SOW out of Program files but still the same problem. I have installed it directly into the SOW main folder but still the same. Any help would be appreciated

  • Same place as the main log file, in documents/SOWWL.
File is named ScenarioEditor.log and can be viewed with any text editor, even notepad.

  • Fromt the lego it seems the problem is this file C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Scourge of War Waterloo\Mods\Russian Maps WL\Logistics\gfx.csv; try to move out this mods temporarly from the mod directory and restart the scenario editor
