No it's not the toolbar, I just disabled all the mods & it still happened. It's the game.

I tried the regular version and the hi-rez version both same result.

I am running 1920x1080 in game full screen and desktop is same.

I have tried everything. Uninstalling all mods, reinstalling just the toolbar but it still looks low rez compared to the rest of the screen.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated

Stardog and Roy, thanks for the report.

I may have a solution. I've adjusted the size and position of the toolbar so theoretically it should be positioned in the middle and not stretched. I have no way of testing it since I don't have a WIDE monitor but try it out and please post a screenshot after testing.

    Instructions:

    - Download and unzip
    - Open the mod and find the same named file in the Layout folder (\Waterloo SOW\Mods\Expanded Toolbar IV - Grog\Layout)
    - Rename the original toolbar.layout file
    - Copy this new toolbar.layout file in it's place

Thanks for this improvement on UK Independence Day.

I like the look of the toolbar now but it might look a bit better if it could be a little bit wider. It just looks a bit squashed.

    Thanks again Reb. :)

  • Reb thats great, I appreciate you working to fix this so quick.
I wont upload a pic because mine looks exactly like his. Much better but just a little squished.
Looks like you are on the right track though.

  • Continuing with the wide screen narrower toolbar request...

Here's a 2/3 sized example, the first was 1/2 screen.

    Same instructions:

    File Attachment:

    File Name: toolbar_20...6-24.zip
    File Size:11 KB

Crap, for some reason this attachment added the date when zipped, rename to toolbar after unzipping.

Next up a 3/4 sized example if requested. :)

  • Very nice!
This one works perfect for me. Its more upscaled than the old version I have but its looks ok and not near as stretched/upscaled as the first one I tried.

One thing I am wondering though when I use an old version of the toolbar the underlying bottom bar still goes all the way across the screen and the toolbar fits inside of it nice and tightly. With this new one its for sure much better and not stretch out like the was reported before but the underlying bottom bar with the compass and everything doesnt go all the way across.

    what causes that?

    Also thank you!

Now I understand what you were asking. This is another MyGui mystery for me. I think I'm figuring it out and then another puzzle pops up. Oh well, that version is history, version IV seems to fit the bill. Since the proportions are built with percentages it's fairly easy and fast to make size adjustments as requested. I'll get this new option on the first post so no one else has to deal with that ugly stretched toolbar. Thanks again for using and helping out with this mod. :)

    Much appreciated! :)

The KS toolbar was designed off the original Grog toolbar, so I don't see an issue since the majority of the features are included. Maybe MTG just hasn't updated the KS toolbar to patch 1.01 yet. Put in a request with the KS group for features, I'm sure they'll cooperate. The only way the Grog Toolbar will work with the KS mod is if they abandoned their toolbar and associated files all together. And that won't happen! :woohoo:

This should not happen, there are no dud formations, or, there shouldn't be.

Check that the subordinates aren't TC'd. Also check that the unit giving the formation isn't occupied with the enemy, they'll refuse commands you know.

Hope this gets resolved, please keep me updated, yea or nay. Thanks for the report. :)

  • Update to version 4.1...
-Unitpack file edited to only include Load sprite data thus minimizing mod conflicts
Discovered this conflict immediately with my mod BloodBath Waterloo. Now, regardless of priority in Modifications, there are no conflicts between the two.
-Toolbar structure updated to better accommodate wide resolutions
Toolbar segments are now combined together on one main layout so width adjustments can be made by adjusting just one coordinate, and position by another.
-Optional toolbar layouts provided for wide resolutions, 66W and 80W (rename to toolbar to enable)
These two layouts are available to replace the toolbar.layout file, simple renaming is all that is required to test out which size works best for specific resolutions.
    - Integrated the Bang Begone mod.
-Toolbar buttons adjusted for lower profile
    Screenshot...

  • Upon seeing Roy and Stardog's wide screenshots the wheels started churning about the possibility of a smaller toolbar for lower resolutions, a toolbar that is not so dominate on the battlescreen. So, after much tweaking and number crunching I've come up with a three quarter sized reproduction, guess we'll call it the Grog Toolbar Mini. I've tested it at the default resolution of 1024 x 768 and it works fine, beyond that is anyone's guess. Only drawback I can see is that the text is eye-squinting small, at least for me, but I think it will be OK for younger eyes. Try it out if ya want, I can't guarantee I'll update it beyond this, but feedback and demand may make it a keeper.

Unzip and copy to the Mods\Expanded Toolbar IV - Grog\Layout folder, rename previous toolbar file first:

    File Name: toolbar_20...7-05.zip

  • Hey Roy,

Thanks for the feedback and testing. Didn't intend for the Mini to be used by the Wide Resolution folks, but since you're trying it out see if changing these settings help.

Open (use Wordpad or Notepad++ ) the Mini version of toolbar.layout and find this line near the top:

    <Widget type="Window" skin="PanelEmpty" position_real="0.125 0.892 0.75 0.1197" layer="Back">

    Change green numbers to:

    <Widget type="Window" skin="PanelEmpty" position_real="0.25 0.892 0.5 0.1197" layer="Back">

This should eliminate the stretch and recenter if my numbers are right.

Edit: new numbers to change to

  • Here's another Mini to try out. It's 0.835 of the screen across, designated as Mini84. Right now I prefer it over the full sized version and will continue to upgrade and test with it. I don't recommend it for the higher resolutions as the fonts have been scaled down. However, for the stock resolution of 1024 x 768, played on a 48" HDTV using the same resolution, it's about perfect for my playing preferences.

Unzip and copy to the Mods\Expanded Toolbar IV - Grog\Layout folder, rename previous toolbar file first:

  • Update 5.0/V - The 'Toolbar Buttons Salient' has been retired :)

Major changes for version 5.0 include:

    - Fourth row of command buttons eliminated and moved to pop-up menus or new positions
By fourth row I mean the upper most row which included the officers and infantry battalion levels

    - Formation and orders selection moved to pop-up menus
These 'select formation and orders' buttons are highlighted and display the current commands. Click on them to display the Formations and Orders menus.

    - Command buttons rearranged to better align functions intuitively across rank and unit types
Veterans of the Grog Toolbar series will have to relearn some positions whereas newcomers should find this new version much easier to learn and navigate.

    - Hold line formations added for brigade and division levels
Represented by the green line formation symbol. Double line hold formation is also included now.

    New Battalion look...

    New Infantry Brigade look...

  • Haven't thought of a division square but have considered a brigade square for SR1 play since brigades become battalions. Unfortunately neither is feasible because officers don't recognize cavalry, they just see enemy. The tools to build the large square configuration may also be lacking, won't know till tried, but without cavalry recognition by officers, the effort's not worth the time. In addition, how would battalions know when to form what square when cavalry approaches, that code would also have to be rewritten.

Yep. Feared AI wouldn't allow. Shame. Of course if those same limitations mean individual battalion squares have same impact in game on mass cavalry attacks then not worth bothering. Just have to protect any arty, which normally form part of a divisional sq.

  • Update, version 5.1:

    - 'Formation select' issue addressed
The reason for this quick update. Found a major issue with the 'formation select' button not showing up with some units on the initial setup of scenarios designed with other toolbars. The generic formations button from previous versions will now show in these instances allowing for formation selection. Once units move, the highlighted formation ('formation select' button) should show up replacing the generic formations button.

    - Re-structured column formation to transition to other formations better
Moved the odd numbers to the left, even numbers to the right. Meant to do this much earlier before V was introduced, now it's done and definitely improves the transitional flow between formation changes.

    - Re-designed limber and unlimber selection process on level 6 artillery, guns
Gotta brag on this one, although this is a rarely used command being it's automatic. Melded the two buttons to one, now only the limber and unlimber transitions are shown highlighted. Furthermore, the tool tips along with the 'graphic shown' display clearly what's happening and what state the gun is in. Couldn't meld the battery level buttons as two buttons are necessary since some guns may be limbered, some unlimbered.

Apologies for this early V update, hopefully I won't find or receive a report about another 'toolbar buster', but I will be looking for further improvements and taking requests.
