Battle of La Souffel mod - WIP

New major mod on the way!
To continue the Hundred Days campaign a small mod team is developing the Battle of La Souffel. This recreates the events 10 days after Waterloo in which General Rapp's V Corps, also called the Army of the Rhine (who played no part in the Waterloo battles) met the III Austrian Corps of the Upper Rhine including units from Wurttemberg and Hessen-Darmstadt.

What the mod will contain:
- New historical map for the area to recreate the battle
- New scenarios for the various key points of action during the battle
- New historically accurate sprites representing the armies of Austria, Wurttemberg and Hessen-Darmstadt

The mod will be available under User Scenarios (i.e. it's free and not part of the core game)

The mod is well underway so will post updates.

I hope it'll come along nicely.
A little bit worried about river crossing and urban fighting, though.
That's not SOW exactly at its best, maybe.
But I must admit I don't remember details about how the engagement unfolded...

Totally looking forward to this. Love the fact that you're making a bunch of scenarios for it as well.

Incidentally, if when the time comes, you guys need someone for play testing the scenarios I'd love to help out. Regular play, HITS, couriers, whatever, I'm proficient in all types of play.

Austrians on the move.

Looks pretty good. A little bare bones maybe. Do the Austrians have anything besides infantry to throw at the player? With 3 batteries of artillery this is a landslide French victory every time. Send out some skirmishers to delay the Austrian advance while I set up the fortress and then sit back and watch the turkey shoot.

Awesome Mitra. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on this. Is this due to be released soon? I've been away from Scourge of War for far to long.

It's interesting that you say that. I always felt that the French Imperial Guard, in particular the first two regiments of the grenadiers and chasseurs that have that level 8 troop quality, were vastly more powerful than any other troops in the game, whether they be Dutch/Belgian militia or the Coldstream Guard, it makes no difference to the Imperial Guard, they treat them all like militia. In my video series I often cautioned my viewers to avoid ever engaging the Imperial Guard in hand to hand combat because no matter what, they will just lose, and lose bad.

I used to think the Old Guard troops in particular were just a little to powerful for the game, (which is really fun when you are playing them, not so much fun when you are fighting them) until I talked to some people that really knew alot about the history of the French Imperial Guard and in so many words basically told me that the level 8 troop quality was pretty representative of the fact that they were the greatest soldiers on Earth at the time.
