Scourge of War Boards

I have downloaded and installed twice from here - got same result - as soon as I launch I get a black screen for 1/2 second then back to desktop. I tried a lower resolution and just skips the black screen and back to desktop.

I have winxp sp3 - 4 gb memory - amd t1035 6 core and nvidia 550 Ti video card and a Star Tek usb sound device

I want to try this out and buy while Matrix sale still on so could use any advice.

There is a log file located in the Work subfolder of the SOWGB installation directory. Please post its content here.

I'm not sure if this is right one - there is nothing titled log this is the one titled configuration settings from work folder

What you have posted is not it. It will say SOWGB.log in the "work" folder, about halfway down the page. It is a text doc.

Hope you are not just dealing with 2 extremely stupid adults as we are both looking but don't see it. under work there are 2 file folders and then 5 other files - the only text file has the content below that file is just labeled SOWGB - my guess is it's crashing before it creates the log file. I am using the default install path on C:

That's the right file.

Did you uninstall and delete the remaining folders before installing again?

I used advanced system care uninstall on it including the file clean up option before reinstalling.

I had my SSD hard drive fail in November and had to replace my hard drive entirely - I have been having peculiar problems ever since - so this may be no fault of the demo program. I only discovered this morning for example that my VLC program was not working with my dvd player because it was set to emulate win 98. VLC only works with winxp sp2 and up. I have been trying to figure that out for a month.

Are you running antivirus or security software? Did you run the installation with admin right?

Something you could try:

You need to remove the 'NorbSoftDev' registry entry. Do this ONLY IF YOU ARE COMFORTABLE editing your registry file. If you have the slightest doubt as to your ability, don't do this. If you make a mistake, your computer could become inoperable.

with regedit navigate to
WinXP 32 bit:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\NorbSoftDev

Delete the entry.

Than reinstall the demo again.

yes i've got antivirus and malware on - I'll try turning them off temporarily

yes Ive got admin rights

No I do not want to touch the registry at all - have never edited manually

they asc uninstall program does take 2 registry entries out of the registry both are to do with sowgb demo but it does not seem to touch the line you have entered
