  • Chickamauga was created by RebBugler

Released for the 153rd Anniversary (2016) of the Battle of Chickamauga, September 18 - 20, 1863.
Been wanting to do this great battle for forever, now, with this excellent map by MarkT, I'm presenting the Battle of Chickamauga the best way I know, via historically based carryover scenarios representing both Union and Confederate perspectives.

    Featuring:

    - New Chickamauga map by MarkT (7.5 Mile)
    - Map adaptations and additions by Crikey* SCREENSHOTS
    - Map terrain transformations by Jolly
    - Officer portraits added to OOBs
    - Chickamauga end screens for scenarios, Richmond News for CSA
    - Chickamauga splash screens
    - Twenty CSA flags DETAILS and twenty USA flags DETAILS designed specifically for the Battle of Chickamauga

    Chickamauga 3Days (C-Army)
    Chickamauga 3Days (U-Army)

Released for the 154th Anniversary (September 18, 2017)
    - Two 'Three Days in 10 1/2 Hours' Full Battle Scenarios
    - Fatigue and Morale replenished at the end of Days one and two

    Scenario Carryover Series:
    CHI01-Three Bridges (C-Corps)
    CHI02-Three Bridges (U-Div)
    CHI03-Morning of the 19th (C-Corps)
    CHI04-Morning of the 19th (U-Corps)
    CHI05-Afternoon of the 19th (C-Corps)
    CHI06-Afternoon of the 19th (U-Corps)
    CHI07-Morning of the 20th (C-Army)
    CHI08-Morning of the 20th (U-Army)
    CHI09-The Finale, Afternoon of the 20th (C-Army)
    CHI10-The Finale, Afternoon of the 20th (U-Army)
    CHI11-Full Day Finale, the 20th (C-Army)
    CHI12-Full Day Finale, the 20th (U-Army)

To play these scenarios straight away without the carryover numbers, simply adjust the pertinent line in the scenario.ini file (place a semi-colon ; in front of the 'CarryOverFrom=...' line).

    Sandbox OOBs:
    OOB_SB_Chickamauga (artillery battalions)
OOB_SB_Chickamauga DivArt (artillery included with divisions)

When left activated, this mod will make available four Chickamauga maps in Sandbox:
    - [M] Ch Chickamauga (MarkT's original)
    - Chickamauga - Days 1-2 (Before battle damage, breastworks east)
    - Chickamauga - Night (featuring a starry sky)
    - Chickamauga - Day 3 (During the battle, objects burning and, or broken, breastworks west)

Unzip and copy to the Mods folder (Unzips with 7zip , free download...)
    Update 3.7 DETAILS
    Chickamauga

*Other offerings by Crikey include an optional map with all streams included and other variances, and, optional Chickamauga themed MAIN screens (found in the Graphics/Screens folder).
The original mini map is included now as an option. Also an optional mini map by Jolly is available, both options available in the Maps folder.
Optional files must be renamed as the original to take affect, renaming the original when applicable.

Simple question, I hope... I have the mod installed and it's in my "Modifications" screen and activated there... but when I go to play it I can't find it in either "Mods" or "Other Battles"

    Any ideas?

    Hi tominrichmond,

After you activate the mod, at the Main Menu, select 'Single Player', then 'User Scenarios', then scenario 'CHI01', which is the first scenario - Three Brigades (Union)...

    Enjoy !

Thanks, but no "CHI" scenarios appear in the User Scenario scene.

Could it be a download issue? Because even though the mod is enabled, there is no descriptive text in the window, like there is for other enabled mods.

    Hopefully my attachments come through.

Glad to hear you're following this Sarge! Thanks for the kudos. :)

With football season and winter prep scenario design is going slow, but going, I get in some scripting and study every day. This is a complex battle and one I'm just now learning. So no timeline to forward, just confirmation that it's in the works.

I'm really loving this - great map.
    And good to revisit ACW.

Inspired me to try and tweak the graphics a touch - is that ok?
Albeit depending if it can be enhanced - it's good enough!

Update, two new scenarios, edited first two scenarios, and a new SB OOB.

Unzip and find two folders: Scenarios and OOBs. Copy and paste in the Chickamauga mod folder, overwrite originals.

    File Attachment:

    File Name: ScenariosOOBs.zip
    File Size:122 KB

Main download on first post has been updated with these files for convenience, only one change with it - larger CS Cavalry flags.

This update was lengthy because I overhauled the OOB by switching to artillery battalions. Had to make the switch after I did some testing and found that troops lost to capturing guns count as casualties. All along I had assumed that if the gun survived, they'd carry over back to their regiment. So, the rewrite was necessary especially since this is a CarryOver series and troops keep dwindling with each followup scenario.

Does this download with the GB game, or do I need Antietam/Chancellorsville? What about Zeke's Great Campaigns?

Considering which additional game to get, Antietam or Chancellorsville, and would get whichever is most modded.

    Advice?

All you need is GB to play this mod although Chancellorsville is necessary to show all buildings. Personally I have modded CV more, but I can't speak for all mods available.

Is there a 3 days in so many hours variant for this one like Gettysburg and Antietam? or is it just the carryover scenarios?

Not planned as of yet. Once this series is complete I'll consider it, or, someone else might take it on, since the 3 day battle framework will be provided by this series. Still, it will be quite an undertaking.

Sorry Yanks, hopefully I'll have the Union version ready in a couple of weeks, wanted to have it ready for this holidays release. This battle is highly involved with moving forces constantly hither and yon, taking a lot of testing and re-scripting time to maintain it's historic persona.

New feature: Transporting ME to move instantly to map locations
After closing reinforcement messages, click ME within 30 seconds and instantly go to that unit.

Read more about how this feature works in the Intro: Author's Notes (bottom entry)

Anyway, a Christmas Eve scenario for the folks that are keeping up with this scenario series, Enjoy! :)

In Modifications move Chickamauga to the lowest, bottom, priority. See if that helps.

That's all I have to help out. If Chickamauga shows up and is activated in Modifications and doesn't show up in User Scenarios, then this is an anomaly I've never seen or have a fix for.

For folks just tuning in the first post has been updated through this scenario so no need for this download if you download the full mod.

These last two scenarios have undoubtedly been my most intricate designs to date. Not necessarily because I had no timelines to deal with or was more enthusiastic, but because of this thread, what I would call a scenario designer's Dream Thread: www.civilwarvirtualtours.com/chickamauga/sept19.html
I'm trying my best to get in every facet of the battle while balancing good gameplay. For those that study this virtualtours thread hopefully all the movements and objectives will make better sense, and you'll actually learn more about the battle and why it was won, or lost. For those that don't, welcome to the helter skelter of a remote battle in northwest Georgia in the autumn of 1863.
