Nah. McClellan would have advanced, if at all, at a snail's pace. He couldn't have got to where Lee was before Lee had taken every city in the North. Remember the Peninsula?

Maybe it was because those abolitionists were stirring stuff up that SOUTH CAROLINA seceded. But I still say that because Lincoln wanted to invade those states that had seceded, the rest did.

I think that the North was like the UN at that point. They tried to give the people under it's control too much government that the Southern states wanted handle themselves, whether that was slavery or any other policy. It was not supposed to be like that.

And Lincoln actually made more states secede by raising the volunteers. He made no attempt on diplomacy.
