Re: Public Perseptions of the GCM
<t>Two things impressed me from my earliest days playing SoW MP: 1) the membership is colorful and 2) enjoys self-inflicted pain. Why else would so much time be spent on a thread such as this? -- which predictably degenerated into senseless bickering.<br/> <br/> Bottom-line (and the beauty of SoW) i...

Re: Shiloh Animated Map
Very cool. Shiloh is one of the more confusing CW battles to understand, no doubt because the terrain was chopped up and heavily timbered -- and the armies were so green. This tool does a good job of breifly explaining and dramatizing the movements & events.

Shiloh 150th Anniversary
One of our Civil War Round Table members shared these of the "15th Iowa" at the Shiloh 150 commemoration.

Re: GCM Multiplayer Maps
<t>Digby, why the resentment and bitterness toward GCM? Seems we're all in the same boat with the same goals: to keep MP at all levels and styles fresh and entertaining. As Soldier explained, advances in GCM benefit the entire MP community, whether one prefers HITS & Couriers, historical OOB's o...

Re: GCM Multiplayer Maps
<t>You guys know better than anyone what is possible, or practical, in allowing Garnier access to enhanced map-making capabilities for MP. Most of the arguments have already been made in previous posts. I would just emphasize again how much pure SoW energy is generated by the ever-growing group of p...

Re: Screen Res causes game to crash
Many thanks for the tip. I was able to avoid deleting the entire .ini file by finding and editing the screen resolution line in the file (in my case changing resolution selection 11 to 10). Works great now.

Screen Res causes game to crash
While experimenting with different game screen resolutions I chose one (1600x1200) that apparently my system finds very objectionable, causing the game to crash immediately upon booting. I can't even get far enough in to deactivate the game to enable a re-install. Help!

Re: Antietam Press Release
<r>I've been promoting SoWGB to our Civil War Round Table since July of last year, trying to peak members' interest and knowing that they'll all become instant SoW addicts once they take a look. So, in the latest Round Table newsletter I'm taking a slightly different approach, using screenshots from...

Re: Extra Musket/Artillery Sound Effects
Hmm, looks like the link got caught up in the recent federal sting on Megaupload. Any other place we can get it?

Re: Melee Bug
<t>I hadn't heard about it until tonight's "melt-down" game, but would argue that this one, as opposed to the "run-of-the-mill" fix, needs to acquire instant priority. It is a member of that infrequent bug species that goes to the integrity of the game. And it's easy to see that it has already added...
