Sorry it has taken me so long to get back onto this.
Does the "mapname.bmp" size determine in any way the size of the map being made? I am going off the TC2M > SOWGB map conversion thread, and am aiming for a 5 by 5 mile map.
Thanks!
Doug

Re: Roads and Trails Question
<t>Sorry for the delay, I am back again.<br/> <br/> I believe I may have misinterpreted some of your steps in the "map converter" discussion. Whereas you were copying from the mapname.bmp to create the separate RGB files, I have sort of inverted that and have been making them (well, only one so far)...

Re: Roads and Trails Question
<r>Perryville is still progressing slowly, the last month has been pretty busy! Attached is a WIP. RGB1 should be about complete now. It took quite a while, but most of that was figuring out how Gimp could be best made to work, never having used it before. On to RGB2, and hopefully it will take less...

Re: Roads and Trails Question
<t>Ah, I see. Yes, that does help, I can now see the various options available.<br/> <br/> So, if the mapname.bmp file working with the mapname.csv defines the textures that are displayed, then what purpose do the various rbg files have? I am just trying to get the different components that make up ...

Roads and Trails Question
<t>Hello everyone,<br/> <br/> Perryville progresses slowly, been working on the roads, agonizing at times over locations of roads, existence of roads, etc. Does Scourge of War mapping support different qualities of roads? In this case I am thinking of roads versus farm trails. Right now all of my ro...

Re: Creating height.tga file
<t>Thank you again davinci.<br/> <br/> Well, that is just plain weird. I tried opening it in lstudio before I uploaded it and it crashed. Are you saying that it worked as soon as you downloaded and extracted it? The version that you uploaded works perfectly, so there must be something in between tha...

Re: Creating height.tga file
<t>Okay, hopefully this zip file will work better. I still have not mastered the saving as 8 bit thing, I will have to keep trying. <br/> <br/> One thing I am curious about is how the other mapmakers determine their grayscale color range, as I would imagine that the more of a range in shades there a...

Re: Creating height.tga file
<t>davinci,<br/> <br/> Well, the first map was actually 2.5 miles of terrain that I stretched to just get a proof of concept, the second one is 5 miles of terrain. I am not sure what I did different, I am swamped with work the next few days, so will take a fresh look at it in a few days and see what...

Re: Creating height.tga file
<t>Here I am again!<br/> <br/> I hate to ask for one more favor, but could you do whatever it is you did before to this attached file? Are you using some other graphics program than Gimp, because danged if I couldn't find those options you mention in Gimp.<br/> <br/> I had to change my file because ...

Re: Creating height.tga file
Whoa! That did the trick. What the heck did I do wrong? I am working in Gimp, did not know there was an option to save it as 16bit (as opposed to?). What did I have it saved as instead? Going to keep fiddling with it. Thanks davinci for the save on a Sunday morning.
