cavalry 'scout' command

I figured that in sandbox mode, where searching for the enemy, it would be good to order cavalry to 'scout.' So far I've been unable to get them to actually do that. Does that feature work? If so, how to use it?

cavalry in sandbox mode

I've started fiddling with the sandbox mode. It appears from the OOBs available that cavalry is not available. Is that the case? Should I install a modded OOB? Thanks for any help.

Re: proper use of skirmish formation

<t>Thanks. I'm going to try that Napoleon mod someday. In the meantime, I'll treat skirmishing as eye candy and for immersion, and very cautiously, when not in imminent contact with the enemy. My second stab at GBB03 I used it, but got right down out front with the lead skirmishers, and as soon as I...

proper use of skirmish formation

<t>My first stab at GBB03, Merdith's brigade holding McPherson's Ridge, I thought that it would be best to advance in skirmish formation, since I couldn't see any Confederates in the woods. <br/> <br/> One regiment ran straight into a deployed Confederate regiment, which proceeded to make mince of m...

Re: questions on 3day carryover scenarios

<t>I am finding it very difficult to control both Hill's Corps and Ewell's. Perhaps too much micromanagement is my problem, taking control of regiments. <br/> <br/> Finally I caught on (after RedBugler's suggestion above) that I could go to a brigade or division commander and use the 'take control' ...

Having a blast but cannot figure out a couple of things:<br/> <br/> 1) If I give orders to commanders at the corps level, the corps never moves. Just sits there. At the divisional and brigade levels, co...

Re: baby steps modding a scenario

Thanks for the tip, DaVinci. RedBugler, if you look at that save, please advise us on why the artillery is not captured/destroyed.

Re: baby steps modding a scenario

Here is a save file. In order to show the invincible artillery, advance the 2nd or 42nd Mississippi infantry to the artillery.

Well, I don't think the attachment worked. I'll try again. If it doesn't come through, please advise. I'm attempting to attach a zip file.
