Re: 'True Ground SR1' - Scenarios & OOBs

How difficult is it change or alter buildings / structures on this “True Ground” map? Is it possible? Where can I learn how to ? I actually visited the area shown in the screenshot above last week and impressed by how much better the terrain is depicted. I’ve been tweaking some scenarios to match th...

Re: 'True Ground SR1' - Scenarios & OOBs

I’ve been having a lot of fun with the “True Ground” mods. They really open up the map and battles flow in a realistic way. FYI for anyone interested in SP play using HITS and the courier dispatch screen. Initially I had a problem with message dispatches with these mods . I would send a message, it ...

Awesome work Reb! First realistic distances, now realistic numbers simply wonderful addition. This game is a wonderful way to study these historic events.

Re: Union Portraits - Western Theater

The game portraits add a lot to my game. They add historic feel, personality, and the practical benefit of quickly identifying a unit. I admit I haven’t played these particular western scenarios yet, but I’m looking to all of them when I get time. Thanks RebBugler for sharing your hard work! I reall...

Re: Bayonet charges

Yes agree SOW melees seem bloodier than those in RL. As I understand it the “edged weapon” Proficiency in OBB is the setting that determines how good each regiment is with a bayonet. This value is shown under each regiment “Skills”in the game. I think these can be changed and tested by building a ne...

Re: Bayonet charges

I agree that charges/melee in the game do seem a bit frequent in the game. This is based more on my own expectations and not on RL hard data proving either way. In the manual it states that melee should only be attempted in extreme situations. Seems to me the AI does it a bit more. In SOW keeping di...

Re: SowGB SDK Ver 1.6 Beta

I have the "Gettysburg SDK v1.6 Beta" from the first post in this thread.. I noticed that the Brandy Station scenarios, OOBs, csv, etc. were not included in their work folder folders. Reb Bugler posted zip files of these on 22 Feb 2017 but these zips were removed. Why were they removed? Ar...

Re: Senior officers killed

This depends a bit on play style, i.e. how much you TC and micromanage. I play SP, HITS, and prefer to work through the command system i.e. avoid TC whenever possible. I limit control to my subordinate leaders whenever possible. Knowing their “Attributes” and setting an appropriate “Stance” helps ke...

Re: Scourge of War Update

Thanks for the update norb!
I also discovered the SOW games a bit late. SOW series has really grown on me. As already said its the overall size and “taking command” feel of the gameplay that works for me.
