I've been playing the 'conquer map' style of campaign a bit more of late and I think what could make it more exciting is to have a time limit. Wonder is that possible?

Not tried it - but I do like the John Tiller games, Waterloo especially. I was surprised to see they (he?) do naval and aerial battles too.
