The one thing I found confusing about the tutorial was it says move to the red circle, but I have never seen a red circle. Maybe it's the moonshine!

I overcame this by paying close attention to the Couriers and looking on my map.

I will have to read the manual tonight to see what some of the symbols mean. Then I might be ready to try online.

All-in-all, a great start for this new series.

This was like a pre-release :)
So, we're all sort of Beta-Beta testers?

Cool.
Not really. Since it's out there's no reason not to have it be the official release. It does not seem that there are any show stoppers that prevent people from playing. Many comments confirm that the single and multi player games are working well. I think we'll take everyone's comments and just move them to a patch. We didn't expect it to be perfect, but we're impressed that it's going so well.
Well then let us spend our bickies

Downloaded today and really enjoyed the tutorial. Not much more to say since others have covered the main points already, but really looking forward to the actual release.

I haven't been over here that long so I apologize if this is common knowledge, but I'm pretty sure it was mentioned that we will be able to purchase by March 31st at the latest. Is there any chance this could happen tomorrow on a Sunday? Or is that a long shot? Just anxious to get my hands on it :)

OK want to let you know my observations. Having played TC and TC2M quite a bit (and very much enjoyed them). Spent many hours fighting battles. Was looking forward to the same with this game and so far my feelings are mixed. I shall explain briefly my experiences and post them here in order to help make the game better than TC2M (quite a feat in my opinion - sorry). I do feel it is possible to obtain this "Holy Grail"

1. As already noted gun sounds are very muted
2. No speech or music playing when units are ordered (e.g. in TC2M you would get different music play as some units moved). Also would suggest hurrahs etc.. after defeating a enemy regiment and this would make it easier to know when you have beaten a enemy regiment without having to watch the whole thing.
3. Colors just do not seem to be quite right as mentioned by others here. Maybe with TC2M the colors were a bit too bright but it helped with playability and made it more attractive (in my humble opinion)
3. Objective symbols are there however they are hard to see - again I think part of it is because they are made out of gold color and they just blend in too easily with the terrain and secondly it was higher up in TC2M and therefore was possible to see from higher up exactly where the objective was. Now with it lower it can get lost in the hills/terrain.
4. No way that I have found to switch tree's on and off. This should also be applied to the corn fields. I know if you get close to a tree it becomes transparent (and just for the record I liked the TC2M effect better from my stand point) however when planning routes etc.. it was easier to disable trees temporary to see paths etc..
I noticed in this current version when you place a marker in a corn field you cannot determine its facing (making it very difficult to position your troops correctly). See suggestion above.
5. I have seen cases where the enemy commander will come over to my side of the battle (I once had a enemy general about 10 feet to the rear of one of my regiments engaging a enemy regiment in front of them. I know TC2M also suffered from this at times.
6. Map - as already discussed the map is very hard to read. I understand this map might be historical however we need a zoom feature bad (which TC2M also needed but at least with the color map it was easier to read). All black and white makes it difficult to understand what the text is describing (e.g road, village, orchard etc.. along with the symbols for each unit). It would be clearer if we could get a closer look at the map (just like to you could closer at a map in real life). I understand this is most likely not going to be easy to change

Well that is all I can think of for right now. I did obtain a major victory in the demo but could not get the multiplayer to work. I still like the game and will keep a close eye on it (along with the mods :-)) but will probably hold off on purchasing.
Thank you for listening Norb and good luck. I do wish you all the best.

This Rocks!

The more I play it, the better it gets!

I really like the size of the regiments, and the scale of the map. The formations, the slide and oblique ability, and the "use roads" command for regiments,(that already came in very handy)is great. I even changed the destination with one regiment while it was marching, and it didn't leave the road.

I could go on, but I'd rather get back to playing...

I found a couple of things: 1. I had the cursor moving to the right and don't know where it ended up but there was a boulder floating in the air. 2. I had a regiment moving forward and could not get it to stop. It moved forward between the ridges and then finely stopped. I moved it forward up the hill and then had 4 men floating in the air above the rocks on the right ridge, eventually they were on top of the rocks.3. Can get the camera to pan down from above to see and command the troops. 4. The woods makes it especially difficult to command troops when they are in the woods.

Press the "T" to on/off the trees and other landscape features.

I wish I could get the view out of HITS.

I see there is a setting for this in the Options, but I can't change it.

Thanks for the tip - I tried the "T" key again and found it toggles first press rocks and shrubs, second press fields/crops and third and final press removes trees and walls. I retract #4 on my list as this has been implemented (just different from what I was expecting). Thank you.

I couldn't be more pleased.

As an avid player of both of the TC games, I got just about every thing I had hoped for in this game. Well done!

I am one of those who want the game on disk to occupy space along with my copies of the other TC games.

For my part of it, I would like a switch to turn off music. Seems like every game I purchase uses music that I very quickly tire of.
I think i'm going to change all the music to TC2M music, its the only in game music
that I don't tire of, I also have music from the movies "Gods and Generals" among others
"Gettysburg" And by the way After playing the first two TC games from day one, Norb you guys have done it again, a "masterpiece". Thank you from all of us at Armchair Generals...
