Blood in the Run AAR

Post by sweeteye »

Began working through the single player scenarios. Played the Blood in the Run scenario as General Merideth commanding the Iron Brigade. It is a 30 minute scenario as perhaps you know.....At 10:30 AM I recieved orders to advance from near the seminary to attack the objective at Herbst woods.

Sent a dispatch to General Wadsworth to request support.Dont know if it really did any good or not.

Began my advance and caught sight of the rebels moving in Herbst Woods.

Advanced my brigade to a fence line just outside of the woods.

The rebels appeared to have withdrawn and the woods were empty. There was a clear path to the Herbst Woods objective.

Received a dispatch that Corps commander General Reynolds had been Killed.

The rebels were in force around the Mcpherson farm. I sent the 24th Michigan in to attack them and sent the 2nd Wisconsin forward at the double towards the Herbst Woods objective.

I made it to the Herbst Woods Objective but was soon under attack by the rebels.

The 6th Wisconsin had retreated back beyond the fence line and I ordered them up to keep pressure on the confederate counter attack.

The 7th Wisconsin had retreated all the way back to the seminary and were of little use.

The 19th Indiana was retreating under the pressure of the rebel attack.

The 2nd Wisconsin inflicted some heavy casualties on The 40th Virginia as they advanced. A melee ensued and the 40th Virginia surrendered.

Without any nearby support the 2nd Wisconsin was being flanked. The rebels were in control of the woods for the most part and I stood no chance of holding either objective. Time was running out.

Interesting. You must have gotten a rare occurrence of the AI changing the enemy's assigned location.. I would play it again, I'm sure it will turn out differently.

Ah. Yes, just an example of the unpredictable AI.. The second time you played, old Archer thought it best to stay away from those woods. :)
