I Be Dissapoint....

Post by CheathamHill »

not in the game...er what appears to be the game...but in my machine, I GUESS.
I downloaded the demo and was excited to get going. After downloading TC2M a few months back and being wargame de-virginized on that game in eager preparation for this one..I couldn't wait...

HOWEVER, once past the credits and into the game mode...well it takes 5-7 seconds to make any 'click' once pressing the X to exit out of a message...it takes dam* near decades to move the soldiers 2 feet in the game..in fact I can't even exit out of what appears to be a first person view...It pans left or up, etc about 15-20 seconds after I move the mousepad to do that...I am so frustrated. I thought that I 'met' the requirements..by laptop is a 2 gig machine with video card, enough memory (i thought) etc...and like I said, it has been running TC2M wonderfully...I even deleted that game and tried reinstalling this one, thinking that would free up more 'space'..I've changed the power settings, screen resolutions, everything...all to no avail and to my breaking heart...
THis laptop is only 2 years old...which I guess is an eternity in 'puter-ville
It's a nice Gateway Vista machine...
SO frustrating.
I'd love to buy a new one but Captain Hope N' Change has left my wallets empty even though the television screamed at me all last year that he would pay or my mortgage and gas ;)

Oh well..any ideas, suggestions, condolences, etc?

Cliff's:

-DOwnloaded Demo
-Opening "credits", pictures, etc work flawlessly
-ENter the game and everything goes at a paralyzed turtle pace, taking a LONG time to confirm my clicks and exit out of the courier notes, troop movement, map click, etc...sometimes it doesn't respond at all
-Hope N' Change has left me with neither
-I like Peanut Butter and short walks on the riverbank
-THanks for any help

Since it's just a 128MB (+shared memory) graphic card you have to consider a few things:

Little Powell wrote:
Trees and max draw distance are the big killers.

Try reducing the trees to 20 percent or less. Uncheck display off-map trees, make your Max Terrain Draw Distance Medium, Uncheck Show Off-map Terrain, and set your Max Units, Trees, and Objects down to 900 or so.

I'm glad we had the demo to show you this before you spent your money. I'm bummed that it won't play for you. We really tried to disable everything we could for low end machines, but there's still a bottom to what we can support.
