is 16 gigs of ram very good ? maybe i have too much ram? i only have to use deul graphics cards 2 nvidia 260gs OC cards, is a 1 tb memory too much for this game?
if 1 of the single player senarios ctd's does that mean theres something wrong with the senario?

That system is awesome! I fixed a bunch of crashes in the beta patch. Probably has nothing to do with your system.
Yeah, mine as well. I think that is the default setting. I really don't know enough about windows, or hardware to say if that really does anything. I thought too pass it on just in case it could have been something that actually works.
Did you check to see if both CPU's are showing usage (performance tab)?
The problem probably is the operating system and/or the program limits. On 32bit OSs the maximum useable memory size is 3.5GB and 32bit programs are limited to a maximum of 2GB addressable memory.
I'd guess the majority of us on here are using a 32bit OS, but not everyone seems to have a problem. There's more to this than memory addressing.
well i have 4 cores running all the time , ah with win 7 os i do know the this game i can't change the compatabilty to win vista service pack 3 which is win 7. because i tried that and the sow wouldn't work in that compatability. not sure why. but it is running good now . you do have to make very sure that messengers and other program are not running when playing sow , because that WILL make the game crash during battles.
now i've said this before , but i'll say it again, that maps in the game are small and made into parts of the battlefield. i'm not sure if thats an issuewith the crashes but it could be .because if units are too close to the edges the game does crash. i myself have learned to work around game crashes. in games ever since i bought empire total war , which in my opinion was the worse crashing game i've ever bought. the crashes in sow are minor compared to etw. lol. i thinking you guys might want to contact jim weaver and have a look at the maps i sent him a year ago. making 3 big huge maps. might be the answer to fixing all the other crashes. in other words a map like the senario in the old tc2m 3 days in eight hours map. i forget who made that it may have been davinci, i remember atm. and i'd have to look it up . so anyway guys have a good day
There are edge of map crashes that we have fixed in the next patch. Sorry for these getting out.
We did research larger maps, but we had some issues, so rather than move back the dates we decided to release with the current maps and work on the larger maps for a feature patch. So they will come. It was not a lack of resources, as the library of congress has hundreds of maps and a member of our team is a former getty tour guide, it was that the engine was having issues handling the maps.
just 1 more thing , i love this game no matter what its falts. and i have so much faith in norb and his nsd team that i know in the future this game will be almost perfect. i realize there is no such thing as a perfect computer game. but as computer technolgy

most advanced gaming engine the caming commuity has ever seen. nsd team needs to let me know if there are programs they need [example] graghics sound, photoshop type stuff and i'll see what i can do. i do have connections to software companys and thats all i'll say. just so you guys get an idea of my systems , i could have went with cray computers
but i didn't really like their motherboards, i found a better company on the west coast
with the asus motherboards and intel chipsets, instead of AMD and radeon cards and the like. if theres a sound making program that does not exsist let me know and i'll find some company to build a special program! just for sow alone. or graghis , etc.

ted turner and myself have had almost the same childhood dreams, he is also a civil war reinactor, of course my dreams where more on a level of reenacting battles that can be played on the computer. and having it look like the real battle, [virtual reality] that is where i want to go . ok and yes i understand about my maps . i was wondering about that exact thing myself for the longest time. about the engine being able to work with those maps. i don't anything about computers spreedsheets and how they make games work.
i never went to collage or universitys but i know plenty of ppl that have. and for me its not what i know , its who i know. but it all gets right in the end.rckgunny is just 1 of my many monikers, or what ppl call fictious names, many writers, actors, important ppl etc. use these so that ppl don't know who they are.i'm no different. who i am is not important, just the words i say could be, or not. lol
