Here you can talk about whatever floats your boat. Your favorite movie, sports team, etc. If it's a little racey, I suggest you post in R&R, otherwise we'll move it for you.

Restrepo: One Platoon. One Valley. One Year. (Documentary Film)

Post by pakfront »

just had a chance to see a screening of this incredible documentary, as well as engage in a Q&A with the Director/Producer and cameraman Tim Hetherington.

He and Sebastian Junger spent a total 0f 10 months embedded in a platoon stationed in the Korengal Valley of Afghanistan. As well as being powerful and personal, the camera work and filmmaking is incredible considering these two were filming in the middle of incredibly dangerous firefights.

The film itself is as apolitical as possible given the environment. That said, you can't help but get attached to the men of Second Platoon, or be impressed by the dignity of the Afghanis who live in this war zone.

I believe it is being released in the US this June.
