Can someone explain to me what is the purpose of Facebook, Blog?

Hello Everyone.

Well, I've been reading up on what Facebook is, and what a Blog is. Now I can't fathom why anyone would want to use these things. I mean I only have a couple of very close friends, and I don't talk to them more than once a week.

I mean I did find an excellent purpose for twitter(instant updates now show up on my webpage when I want to announce a change I have made). I'm not using it as others may, but it does have a purpose, but facebook? I just can't get it into my head why anyone would use these things. Just pick up a phone, and make a call, or write a letter.

Oh well, maybe I'm alone in thinking this way.

I use facebook to stay in contact with family and friends that I would otherwise lose contact with.

My first cousin's daughters are in some cheerleading competition, they are doing very well. He would never call me to tell me because I could care less. But it is nice when he posts the pictures to take a quick look at how the girls are doing. So it's people that I know, that I want to continue to know, but really don't have enough to talk about.

I also use facebook as an advertising vehicle for the game.

Okay I understand. I just had a hard time trying to figure out what kids would use it for outside of posting themselves getting into fights, and trash talking.

Thats what youtube is for. But in reality, I use facebook to talk to my family and friends. It also helps with setting up events and such. I don't ususally see fights on facebook because, why would you be friends with a person who you fight with? But anyways.

I fully understand. I just couldn't see the purpose for having a facebook account.

Facebook also has its drawbacks. Like distraction and procrastination for example. I always end up on facebook, no matter why I get on the internet.
