Color of water in the game

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Color of water in the game

Post by jri »

Has anyone modified the color or texture of water. To me they both are brown and it is hard to tell which is which. It the old TC2m the water had a different look about it.

This has been asked before. At the time of the battle, it was one of the hottest days of they year. Most of the streams were down to a trickle so there is mostly mud in the stream beds. I've been there enough to know that Plum Run for instance is less then a foot wide around the 1st of July. One of the big factors in the attack on the Union left at Little Round Top was the lack of water for the 15th Alabama who crossed Plum Run to make their attack. The most water that would be on the map at all was in the mill pond on Rock Creek well south of the Culp's Hill area. Rock Creek itself was mostly a dry creek bed with shrinking pools of standing water. Therefore what you are seeing is actually stream beds, not the streams themselves which are too thin and small to be seen at the scale of the maps.

I have wondered that as well Shirkon; terrific authenticity in this game.

I wonder how A.Dukes would have responded to jri’s question.

“It’s mud.”

I love both of you guys – for different reasons.:)

Or if we could see him he would be looking with a dead pan face straight ahead saying " This does not compute"

Here is another one for you. I was asking a general question. I use the sanbox mode and therefore they are not Gettysburg battles...

I did and do not need smart alleck answers, especially on Christmass Eve.

Glad you enjoyed it though.

Merry Chistmass to all!

I didn't see any smart alleck answers.... I'm confused..... ?

If you are playing a Sandbox battle on a Gettysburg map, then it's going to have the same color as it did during the battle. As far as modding the color, not possible until the maps are opened for modding.

I wasn't trying to give a smart alleck answer. I was trying to give you the rational into the stream color you asked about. If I had been trying to be a smart alleck I would have directed you to find the previous threads on the question. Since I went to great length to give you the reason, I see no reason to be accused of this, if on the other hand I am misinterpreting what you are saying, I appologize in advance.

The sandbox mode unlike some games like the Total War series uses the exact same maps that the main game does so you will be seeing the same muddy stream beds. The maps are not generated as the game loads but are the same from game to game.

A Happy Holiday to you and yours.
