Arty Overkill. Ratio 1:1, and what a noise it made on the battlefield!
Hi.
I just had a battle with the arty at 1:1 ratio, and the further into the battle the roar of the cannon was just simply really cool to see, and hear. Here are two screen shots for you to gawk at.
I would suggest that just using 1:1 ratio for the arty, and leave the rest of the ratios at standard.
Wow, this was so cool to watch, and take part it.

Um, a 1:1 artillery ratio as you did there means you have one gun for every man in the crew. The 1:15 default ratio is so there's one gun for each 15 man crew.

I'm not sure, this is a Corps vs Corps battle so as to the amount which normally shown I think was exceeded by my using the ratio of 1:1, but like I said I'm not too sure, perhaps Norb, or Adukes will know. All I know is that the amount of arty on the field appeared to be far above what I think is normal because I don't remember ever hearing such a racket like this before. The sound of shell explosions, and cannon fire was continuous.
Give it a try Garnier, I would really like to know myself.
I have to say this though, as you can see from the second picture above, the battlefield was the most chaotic I have ever experienced before. Infantry, Cav, and arty were all scaled 1:1, and I have to say guys try this out if you can handle it because you will walk away with one hell of an exciting experience. I was so captivated by what I was seeing, and hearing that I just sat there watching instead of ordering my men, it was one of the most beautiful things I have seen in awhile in a game before.
Cheers...

Re: Arty Overkill. Ratio 1:1, and what a noise it made on the battlefield!
Hi.
I just finished another ratio 1:1 battle (corps vs. corps, line of sight / Kansas Map), and the battlefield now has come to life. Thanks to Little Powell for releasing his edit because I would not have been able to actually appreciate what I think a battlefield should be like. Since I have been able to set, and play at 1:1 ratio the battlefield has become chaotic with a strange sense of order to it all. The sound of the battlefield was so intense, and so full of smoke I swear I could hear, and feel the musket fire whizzing through the air, all the while watching troops charging, and counter charging, and the cannon explosions all over the field is something to behold. Maybe this is what Rebbugler was referring too when he mentioned the realism factor on his future releases for the upcoming features pack. If this is the case I just got a taste of what is to come for this title.
Again guys, excellent work as always, and thanks Little Powell with your small edit because without it I would not have had this experience.
Cheers...

Garnier is indeed correct in his assessment. 1:1 for artillery does give artillery pieces with 1 man manning it. So if the scenario.csv says there are 15 men to a gun you will end up with 15 individual guns manned by 1 man each. And while there is a definite increase of firepower, there is also an increase in vulnerability also. Each gun is much much easier to kill since there is only 1 man there.Hi.Um, a 1:1 artillery ratio as you did there means you have one gun for every man in the crew. War is cruelty. There is no use trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over.

Hi Shirkon.
Okay I understand now, I didn't quite grasp what Garnier was saying (the man has a much higher thought process than my own).
Cheers, and thanks again Shirkon.

Hi.
The second screen shot above makes for a great background, try it out if you haven't done so already!
