The cavalry scenarios.

The Gettysburg cavalry actions are usually ignored/neglected.

I have read a few books about them.

But now I get to play them.

Very educational.

And wonderful!
Excellent. I hope you enjoy them.. It was quite a journey for Rebbugler and I designing them.. It's a shame that the ECF/SCF battles are largely ignored but I hope we have helped to shine a little bit of light on them. :)

Are there any other additions in this beta that have not been listed in the change log by any chance?

My Favorite features so far are...

1. Gettysburg Map
2. Calvary Field Scenarios
3. Rebel cry
4. Movement Map - 5 star addon
5. Fatigue Model (Hate & Love Situation. Makes sense though)
6. Finally being able to use some mods during Local MP Games.
7. and the Death scenes of cannon, and it's crew.

I know I am missing some others here...

Later...Excellent work guys as always.

Frames-per-Second

OK, I think that there is a slight increase in the FPS for drawing the vegetation, but it appears that you have to adjust the OOB that will fit with your Computer Specs. .

A great map that will give you a excellent test platform is the new Gettysburg Map. This map has a huge road-system that appears to have the greatest impact on your FPS.

I turn on the Debug Mode – that will show you the FPS in the top left-hand corner of the screen.

I started with an OOB that roughly had approximately 38,000 men per army. At the start of the game I would give my total army movement orders across the map. If the FPS dropped below 9 FPS , I would exit the game and remove a brigade from each army, and repeat this process.

I found that once I reached 33,000 men per army, that my FPS would stay at approximately 13 FPS which is great for this type of game.

I also get a slight increase once a battle starts, I'm guessing that this is probably due to the units no longer using the roads which seems to tax the system more.

Basically, considering that everyone has a slightly different system, a custom OOB will probably be your best bet too enjoying the game in the Single-Player-Mod .

Now, that this part is over and I seemed to have found a good medium of forces, I can test out the new Infantry maneuvers.

It's a quick fix. Just open the OOB you want to play in excel and add a column called "OOBMOD" to the L column.
Quick question about this sir. I am going to start working on updating the TC2M/CMP3.0 oobs. Adding a column to the "L" Column doesn't seem to make much sense to me. Here is a screenshot below, and please let me know if this is what you mean. Should it be a Cell I wish to add?

The attachment OOBMOD.JPG is no longer available
Also, when should an error appear when an oob is not properly converted/updated? I have ran the (hopefully) updated oob in the screenshot, and it appeared to load, and run okay, then to make sure I loaded the unmodified oob, and that seemed to load alright, and run as well.

P.S - Totally confused, and bewildered. :)

The way you have it in the screen shot is exactly how it should be. If you run an OOB without the L column, it should crash with a "BAD FORMATION" error in the log.

Thank you very much, I'll start getting these oob's ready, and should have them up for download in a bit.

P.S - Thanks again.

Hey this is the Beta patch correct, and we are suppose to be on the look-out for any bugs and such, correct?

But, slightly jumping the Topic – Is there any way possible that the fields on the Alpine map can be removed , and just use the under-brush that is used for the trees in place of them. Or just use the standard ground terrain in its place.

I like the map, and it appears to run faster than the Gettysburg map, but the field terrain graphics are simply horrible, I just can’t think of another word to use.

I guess that if someone had the Computing Power to run some type of weeds, brush, crops, and wheat’s or anything over the fields that would be great, but does anyone have such a system?

Or, does this only affect me, and no-one else seems to mind the field-graphics?

Thanks,

davinci

Davinci I agree, and would like it to be spruced up a bit.

Not the best picture to show what I’m trying to explain, but here goes!
Image

Every now and then an enemy unit will cross the battlefield and move in closer than his support units.

When this happens all of my units that in the immediately area will wheel and fire on this unit, the problem here is that they will expose their flank to an enemy unit that is firing on them.

I think that a unit should only turn if they are in immediate danger of being fired at, instead of firing on a unit that is not firing on them, and exposing their flank to the units that are firing on them!

I understand that some of this may be hard too implement, but I don’t think that there should be this much turning \ shifting of the regiments.

The picture shows that the 9th Virginia has taken 40+ casualties from exposing their flank.
