Is the Gettysburg Map - the largest map that can be made?

Post by Davinci »

A while ago I think that it was posted here that Norb was thinking about expanding the size of the maps, but was running into some problems.

After that the Alpine map was released, and then the new Gettysburg map was released with the latest beta patch!

Question - Is this the largest map that can be released, or can the map size be increased as long as the terrain \ objects are scattered out?

Thanks,

davinci

It's more than that. We had some issues dealing with the coordinate system that had to be fixed. There is nothing stopping us from going larger, but it might now work without serious testing and fixes.

Norb – Thanks, for the reply back on this!

I was playing the new Gettysburg map today, and noticed that while sending for assistance by courier to help support my flanks that there was nothing but rolling open country all around me.

I thought that what if the maps could be made slightly larger and the consequences of having my army so separated, with no available help in-sight, this might end quite badly.

I think that these larger maps are ground breaking and pushing the game in the right direction!
