This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

Hey Davinci, the large courier screen looks great with the resolution you use, least that's my highly biased opinion. Otherwise, bet the stock courier screen REALLY looks letterboxy.
Yes Thanks, I using a screen resolution of 1280x1024 – the highest that I can set my monitor.

BTW RebBugler – both Mods installed without a hiccup, great work!
If nobody minds I'm going to continue to work on this. I have an advantage because I can reproduce the problem. The behavior is consistent for my two computers so I should be able to come up with something that works for me.
Keep moving forward, this forum can never have enough modders!

Have you tried changing the resolution of the POPUP_Courier.dds file and see if that helps to align it better?

Forgive my ignorance, but are you talking about the size of the image or the pixels/inch? I have tried many different image sizes and have changed the pixels/inch from 96, which is how the stock image loads to 72. Didn't seem to matter but give me some guidance and I'll try anything.

The file size that works for us is 1024x768 – but this is not working for you, along with several others.

Have you tried changing the file size to 1280x1024 or something similar?

Another Option – would be to create a single page without the border and tatter the edges something like the picture below. Still working on it as we speak!

I just now started working on it, and applying an Alpha Channel – will give it a tattered weather look without the border.

If that works, then all you would have to do would be to align it on the screen using different coordinates.

I'm dead in the water... When I switched computers one crashed, I reinstalled the game, tried to activate on my other computer, told me to go fish even though I had deactivated it. I'm going to go through the proper support channels and hope the support people are as responsive as the ones on this forum. Talk to you when I'm back from the dead.

I couldn't get that far. I tried just using a blank document with no background or anything figuring it might write the message text over the top but even that doesn't work. It displayed the file with the text over the top but the bottom 1/5 of the image was black. I'd post a screenshot but I can't get into the @#$%$%$ game! Sorry. Unfortunately I have become intimately familiar with both the image and the gscreens file (I wish they were younger and better looking) and am becoming increasingly convinced my computer will not render that window correctly. For that matter neither will my other computer. They're completely different but exhibit the exact same results.

Dell Studio 2500 Laptop
Windows 7 Home Premium/64 bit
Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Series Chipset

Medion Desktop
Windows XP SP3
Nvidia GeForce FX 5200

Both had their drivers updated today but they were both current.

Eureka!! The common denominator is Nvidia! Both chipsets on my computers are manufactured by Nvidia. It's the only thing my two computers have in common. It didn't occur to me until I was sitting here watching TV and it percolated to the top of my brain. I'd bet the others who are having this problem also have Nvidia chipsets.

You may have to tyr something like this - by removing the buttons and the background.

BTW - I have a ATI Graphics Processor.

When they figure out my activation problem I'll give it a try. I dragged out an old Sony laptop with an ATI chipset I have and as soon as I can get the game activated I'm going to test it. I'd be surprised if it didn't work. My experience is that Nvidia has had some issues in the gaming community. I didn't hit on that earlier because I didn't think to check who manufactured the Intel Mobile chipset.

You know I tried what you did, albeit not as eloquently, but any image larger than the stock graphic of 759 x 395 or window of 1024 x 512 will not display correctly. I wish I could post a screenshot and you'd see what I'm talking about. Anyway as soon as I'm back in business I'll let you know.

Gotta burst that idea balloon...I'm using two Nvidia GeForce 9600 video cards in an SLI config.
But maybe older Nvidia cards are at fault.

Sorry about that registration mishap...SOW tech support should be fast in getting you back running.

Hey D...cool courier maps without borders, now we're getting authentic looking. B)

RebBugler – I like this rough look better than the uniformed border-look. I’m going to go through your mod and see if it’s anything else that I can steal and incorporate into my game.

Hopefully – born2see will figure out something that gets his screen to work correctly.
