Controls2 - Fonts - Courier
Re: Controls2 - Fonts - Courier
born2see - OK - I'll try out this, I have been trying to work on the folding Courier message - didn't turn out good at all!
RDBoles - it is going to take me a while to figure out this folding message, I worked on it for several hours, but didn't do too well!
I even tried folding a sheet of paper in front of me, but this is sort of confusing.
bedbug, and Tim I'm not! - I don't have their skill with this stuff!

Re: Controls2 - Fonts - Courier
born2see - I added the file that you posted, but was not able to view it in the Fontmaker menu, or program.
So, I changed the name of it to VinerHand32 and placed it in the Mod \ Graphics \ Font - folder, and it worked that way.
That particular writing is far too advanced for me, I think that that is a little bit too real for my liking, so I switched back to the Rage Italic font.
But, if it works for you that is great!
I doubt that we are going to find a font that works for everybody, so it is probably better to give them several choices pertaining to the one that they wish to use.
Question - How did you finally change that file from a TTF to a PFT, I didn't think that that was possible?

I don't know; I thinks it's coming around nicely. I like the serrated edges at the top. I bet if wee looked hard enough we could find a picture of a dispatch. If you haven't tried I'll give it a shot.

Re: Controls2 - Fonts - Courier
If you add the lamarpen.ttf to your Windows font folder it will show up as one of your installed fonts. When you launch Font Maker, the list you see is from Windows, not Font Maker. If you scroll down to the "L"'s you'll see it. You can then select it, pick a point size, name it and then generate the font. It will end up in your ...PR6SDK\utility\FontMaker\bin folder as a pft file. I have Windows 7 so your Font folder might look different. Here are some screen shots:
I'm in my element now so let me know how I can help.
PS: This will work for any installed font you want, I'm pretty sure.

Re: Controls2 - Fonts - Courier
Now, I understand!
I would have absolutely never-ever-never figured that out, thanks for the info into that!
Slightly Jumping Topic - have you been able to give the new font a different name other than the default name and get it to work?
EDIT POST - due to me constantly over-writing \ deleting my game files - I have plenty of back-up copies installed!

Re: Controls2 - Fonts - Courier
Here is LamarPen36.pft renamed DaveysFont.pft. Works fine. I think the pft file is independent of any Windows installed font. Speculation on my part but that may be part of the reason it's used.
PS: And I thought my directory structure was complicated. Props to you for keeping everything straight. :cheer:

Re: Controls2 - Fonts - Courier
If you have successfully figured out how to change the name of the font try out this procedure to see if it solves the windowed courier screen from over-writing.Here is LamarPen36.pft renamed DaveysFont.pft. Works fine. I think the pft file is independent of any Windows installed font. Speculation on my part but that may be part of the reason it's used.
In the gscreens file – use the font name that you made up. Line 4 \ Column D
Use the default font for the courier window – Line 12 \ Column D.
Let me know how that works.

Re: Controls2 - Fonts - Courier
Just so I understand. The gcsreen file at Line 4/ Column D refers to MsgFont-L-2 which I thought was a variable defined in the gamefonts file. However in the gamefonts file I only see MsgFont whose value is currently DaveyFont.pft.
Do you want me to change the gscreen file directly or the font in the gamefonts file?
Sorry, I haven't had my coffee yet...

Re: Controls2 - Fonts - Courier
You are several steps ahead of me on this, probably why I could only get the new font to print one line of text, before defaulting back to the original font.Just so I understand. You may wish to hold off on my earier post about any edits to that file.
Question - If you change the name of your font - do you still have the default font listed in your gamefonts file?
I have to run for several hours, will return to continue this!
Thanks,
