Controls2 - Fonts - Courier

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

I’m still sort of confused as to how you converted a TTF to PFT, I downloaded some of the TTF’s today, but didn’t have any success converting them.
Here's the procedure.

1. Take the ttf file and add it to your Windows Font folder. I have Windows 7 and here is what you do for that. I suspect Vista is the same. I'm house sitting this week so I don't have my XP machine to work with. Anyway, to do that:

Got to Control Panel -> Fonts and copy the ttf file into that folder. This adds the font to Windows. Once in Windows it's available to any program which uses fonts like Word, Font Maker, etc.

2. Open Font Maker, hit the Font Generator -> Choose Font and you'll be presented with the Font Maker Window.

3. On the left side you'll see the Font Options. Select the Font pulldown menu and go down to the font you want. What you're looking at is all of your installed Windows fonts. If you haven't done Step One, it won't work.

4. Choose the point size you want and name it something other than "test", the default. The font name plus the point size is good like RageItalic48.

5. Hit the "Generate" button and you'll see "font created!" in a small dialog box.

6. Go to the PR6SDK\utility\Font Maker\bin folder and you'll see the font you just created with the pft extension.

7. Away you go!

I don't have the ability to insert graphics in these posts but if you want I'll put together a Word doc with screenshots which will make all this a lot clearer.

I'm sure my murky explanation will generate some questions so don't hesitate to ask.

PS: I've put together my Keyboard Only mod but could use some help testing it before I unleash it on the unsuspecting user community. Maybe you could lend a hand once this project is put to bed.

Thanks

That cleared it up for me; this is the part that I didn't know about!

Since I couldn't get it to work earlier I think I deleted all of the fonts that I downloaded.

Here is the Site - Dafont dot com.

Yes. That's better, don't you think? It seems people wrote in cursive back then with lot's of flourishes and flowing writing. Now if you could just get Lamar Pen (never know if it's one word or two) to look like that...

Wow! Nice find. Looks like 130 pages of handwritten fonts. Just looking at the first few pages I see some possibilities:

Carpenter - page 1
Miss Brooks - page 6
WIP Grandma - page 14
Wishing Type 3 - page 17
You can get farther with a kind word and a gun than you can with a kind word alone.

Yes, now that I understand what I’m searching for, believe it or not, I spent hours trying to find some pft fonts, when I should have been looking for ttf fonts.

Here are a few others that you and born2see might like, slanted thin writing, I’m still searching for that hurried-up-rushed field writing font.

Amethyst Script – picture below
Jane Austin
TBF Rough Script – can’t remember if this one was for me or you guys.

Hey, instead of going through all of the hand-writing fonts, go to this selection on the same page.

These will narrow down the search.
