First Beginner OOB.

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

First Beginner OOB.

Post by Michael Slaunwhite »

Hi.

Okay, I decided to add the sniper as part as the Beginners oob edit. These are two separate oobs entirely, meaning when you activate the Beginners OOB mod, you will have a choice of two beginner oobs.

1: The Main Beginner OOB will give you a chance to command 1 of each unit type without you being lost in the sheer scope of this game. I had at the beginning a very difficult time in commanding, and keeping track of a large force, eventually I would just end up losing track of what was going on, and I normally felt lost, frustrated, and pretty ticked off.

2: The Sniper OOB is something you can have fun with. You will only command a very small cav unit. Also both sides has this type of unit, so no matter what side you are playing, just remember they have this unit, and they can be very deadly.

Anyway have fun...

Hi.

Could someone tell me which type of rifle was used for sniping? I'm going to create a specialized team of snipers for Beginners to control.

Later.

Hi again.

I just uploaded a new version of the Beginner OOB. I guess I didn't get rid of all the forum names. This has been fixed.

Later!

Will "1.2 Compliant" mods work in older (V1.10) versions? I have been holding off on all of this updating figuring to wait until the dust settles before moving forward.

I am interested in tinkering/experimenting with Mikesla's Beginner OOB but............

Hi.

Nope, they won't. The dust has died down quite awhile now concerning bugs in the latest patch. I know that a new very small patch will be released that will take care of the few remaining bugs.

I suggest that you download, and install the latest patch. :)

Cheers...

Hi.

I have just uploaded an updated version of the OOB. Here are the very small changes.

I have replaced the weapons for the Beginner Troops (Cavalry, and Regiments) for both sides with the "Tyler Texas Pattern". I decide to do this so that the beginner troops will only have these weapons, and it makes it really easy for me to edit the rifles.csv.

The way I had it before, I changed the values in the rifles.csv but I forgot that the weapons I adjusted were for many of the troops on both sides, not just for the beginners troops, so that had to change.

Anyway, sorry for the bother guys...The new file is ready to download (found in first post).

Cheers...
