Need help with Scenario Twenty-Two

Post by kaplan71 »

Hi there --

I am going through the motions of trying to get a victory in Scenario Twenty-Two. So far I have been able to get to a draw. Besides the fact that the Union 10th calvary flees at the slightest provocation, I have not been able to get the rest of the force to stand and fight very well.

I have been fighting a delaying action at the second fence from the top, and I have tried strategies including sending a couple of squadrons around to harass the rear of the enemy, as well as keeping several units on either side of the field to hit at the flanks. Almost always the calvary fights briefly, and then turns and runs, and when it runs it runs so far away that it is practically not worth the effort to rally and return to action.

I checked out a couple of threads, and while their were some good pointers, including fighting the delaying action, there was nothing really concrete for me to go on. Can someone provide some insight here?

Lots of Reb random attacks with this one...you'll eventually find one you can stop. This way, a 30 minute scenario keeps on truckin... ;)

Tip, to help out holding the north objectives, bring over some of your NJ boys... :)

Hi there --

I have tried several more times, and I still can't past a draw score. I hate to say this, but I need a walk-through in order to get through this scenario. Otherwise, I am at an apparent dead end here.

Have you tried just blowing off holding the objectives, and use all your troops to rout or capture the enemy completely. This will gain you a Major Victory, regardless of score. I made this option available because of the tight scoring here, for instance, it's possible to wipe them out, and still not get enough points to win.

Hi there --

I was able to rout the enemy from the field, as was sent to me by dispatch from General Gregg, and get a major victory. However, when I took a look at the accumulated scores, I noticed that I while I scored 3,311 points, I was still shy about 889 points for promotion.

Does that mean I did not really achieve a major victory, or is that a misnomer?

Major Victory for GB22 is 4200 points.

Apologies, this is my error. After my last post here I realized this error. The promotions are based on high score, not Major Victory. For this option I should have designed in automatic bonus points. This cannot be changed, the last patch is done for this game. Others have gotten the Major Victory points, so it's not impossible, just very challenging. Good Luck...and, I'll help folks more than ever now on this one, gotta make up for my oversight.

I'm confused, but that's easily done. So unless you get 4200 points, no promotion. But don't you have to get 4200 points to get a MV?
