Courier to regiments?

Post by con20or »

Im a bit confused, I was just playing a sandbox battle.

I was playing a division battle, but as a brigade commander, under overall command of the AI diisional general. Courier was set to the highest level, brigade.

However, every order I issued to my regiments was sent by courier.

Has it always been like that or was that a glitch, I honestly cant remember!

I hope it is a feature because I like it.

Just checked it again - and i went up a level to division general too. All orders being sent by courier to regiments..

Was it always like this? Why do you specify courier at brigade level only in the options menu?

Time for bed i think..

If I move my regiments by courier, by using the Brigade Commander with the technique of TC \ On – and then TC \ Off – I get the couriers going from the brigade commander to the regiments.

But, if I manually move them – I don’t remember ever seeing a courier.

Are you using the courier menu when this happens?

The only true logic is that, there is no true logic!

No, they weren't TC'd...

And I wasn't using the courier menu, just 'select regiment with mouse, double click on location - one courier, formation - another courier.

I am using the courier and maps mod MTG made, maybe that implemented it? Ill try switching it off later.

That is the normal behavior in historic mode. It's been this way since version 1.00. If you use the point and click method a courier will be sent with the order. Even hitting the TC button will generate a courier to tell the unit that they no longer have free will. The only buttons that don't generate a courier are the change facing buttons.
I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

Now I am a bit confused. With the command level set to “division” and you are playing as brigade commander, there shouldn’t be couriers when moving the regiments of your brigade around!?

Manual, p. 46: “Orders by Courier at this Command Level and Above _ This sets the
bottom command level at which you are required to use couriers to send
orders to subordinates. If you are a commander below the set level, you may
still give your orders by the click-on methods explained in “How to Move”
and they will be transmitted instantly.”

At a guess, I would say thats for 'custom' difficulty only. i was playing on historical - where things have been preset.

I am unsure though..
