If you mean Krzyzanowski’s brigade, yes I bring them to the Knoll, putting them on my right flank. I do just fine at the Knoll, rolling up the Rebel right flank handily. I would be happy if I could fight the whole battle there, but alas, I must get VPs from Cemetery Hill as well.

My problem is that my points are evaporating as I fall back and relocate, and I cannot isolate the reason. I guess that's up to me, lol.

Haven't gotten to the Cav Fields yet, but I always beat anything I set out to beat, and as far as MP goes, sounds like you are the one to beat, see you again soon I hope :)

And thanks for having me the other night for my first MP game.

--- Edit, you mean bring Steinwehr's guys all the way down from Hill. Feeling stupid now, lol. Thanks, trying that now.

Yes, you have forces on Cemetery Hill that you need to use, but make sure there are at least 100 men there at 15:50 to grab the 100 points a minute.

When the Cemetery Hill objective first activates at 15:30, you need 1,000 men to hold it, and it only awards 25 points a minute. So it's best to use those men to defend Barlow's Knoll. Remember the retreat method explained above, and utilize your artillery. Bring them up close to the action.

I finally got it. 4073 on normal. Brought just one brigade down from the hill and ended up only barely engaging it with a regiment or two, I had it sitting in reserve on my right flank and never really needed it. And right on about the arty Little Powell, pretty horrible stuff that canister is up close. The men who stood in the face of that had to be hard in places I don't even have places.

As frustrated as I became with this scenario, one thing about this game really shone through - the random nature of the enemy each time you play the scenario. I don't do Saves, so each restart is an unknown quantity.

I read through the manual again, and "discovered" NumPad 0 to TC all units subordinate to the selected commander. Amazing what you can learn from documentation.

And thanks a bunch, X Navy Seal, for doubting me on the East Cav Fields, now I know what I've been saving my PTO for, lol. Beat one already, the Wolverine one, man that was fun, tearing up and down the field with all that cavalry. Came very close on Custer's First Stand (thought I had it licked, took a knee to run out the clock and then this Mongol horde comes screaming down the hill at me in a wave that actually spooked me) and have all but declared two others as immpossible. Knowing they are not impossible only forces me to dig deeper, and realize over and again how much depth there is in this "game" and how little I know. The distance between my ability now and General of the Armies is vast.

Cheap at twice the price.

Thanks for your help guys.

Good deal, glad you were able to get the win.

Keep us posted on those Cav scenarios. It's always good to get the player feedback. :)

Played this one for the first time today, I ended with a high draw, but easily would have had major victory if I'd paid better attention.

I had already determined to hold Barlow's knoll as long as possible, but I left my Arty in the fight too long there, and lost its power for the main engagement.

1) I had already determined to bloody Ewell's nose on Barlow's knoll, and to set up my MLR on the slight ridge south of the almshouse. However, I didn't realize I needed 1000 men present on Cemetery to start getting those points. I had moved my entire reserve forward to my predetermined "Last Stand"

2) I held Barlow's too long, namely with my guns, as I said before. I also reinforced that salient too much, as it is basically untenable. One brigade would have served the same purpose as 2, considering the haste in which I left.

3) I pulled Von Gilsa off the front first, to set a screen for the rest of Barlow's division and company to withdraw through. Much like real life, he messed it all up. As far as my plan went, I'd have been better off letting him stay and get overrun.

Basically, if I had kept a brigade on Cemetery Hill from the outset, and as I had a chance, pulled one of my battered units off the line and sent the fresh brigade up for the final 15-20, I'd have been in good shape.

Love the game, Norb.
