One I'm not involved in reenactment of any kind which now brings me to ask this silly question.
I've watched some videos, and I like them but there is something missing, and that is the "holy crap" that would show on people's faces, and etc. I know I may be laughed out of this forum for even mentioning this but hey, if you don't live dangerously from time to time then whats the point.
So, I poked around (didn't spend much time on this actually, maybe 15 seconds at best), and I am wondering if anyone here who has ever tried reenacting ACW battles using converted muskets made for paintball?
This would certainly add the "Holy Crap" factor, and when you get hit you don't have to fake the hit any more, you get hit you lay down.
You don't have to wear the total face protection, and of course the yardage would change of course but when you have a line of men of say 100 or so opening up on you at once, your going to run for it.
This is about the only way I can think of is coming as close to the almost real thing...the whole point is having that similar emotion of fear of being hit. I mean imagine hearing the "THWRAPP" sound as your buddies are getting hit, or hearing the whizzing sound of one flying by your head...
