[SOLVED] MP game, and somehting that really has me confused.

Post by Michael Slaunwhite »

The good people took pity on me, and gave me a go with a 7 person MP game. I first TC'd my individule commanders leaving the regimets alone.

I finally reached the peach orchard to provide support for a cav brigade. I soon noticed after the shooting started, I gave orders to my men to line up, and give a hand. Shortly after I started to notice that my men were given orders to proceed to other parts of the map. Odd thing is I even TC'd the units to bring them back inline but again the regiment were given different orders...

Now mind you I am one of the worst players on the market today, and I take full responsibility for what happened, and I blame no one else for my stupidy on the field....I'm just confused that's all. I mean I don't want to let the team down so to speak, so any help will be very much appreciated.

Could someone help me, and explain what could of happened, and where to stop this from happening again.

I have one quick question. Can high rank commanders issue orders to it's lower ranking (MP player - non AI)) officers (Take control)?

My troops behaved really odd, and I have played allot of SP games, and I am use to the small things that take place by the AI, but I have never seen the AI in single player send my troops to another point on a map to help to out flank the enemy without my permission. The places where my troops were ordered to go were way to out of the way for it to be a simple point, and click error. Which makes me question this. If it doesn't happen in SP, why would it happen in MP?

Anyway this has really got me thinking here.

Hey mike, i was in that battle , but i was on the other end of the line i guess.I didnt see the confusion you speak of, although there was plenty of confusion on the whole.. :woohoo: ..I was however thinking maybe it could have been a simple "Pathing" issue that sometimes arises. Its not uncommon for your units to decide to take some unusual routes to get from A to B.The best way to avoid this if it happens is to re-route the unit until its on the correct path or simply give it waypoints.Anyhow likely nothing to do with your issue but thought id throw it out there.

Thanks Cleburne, It was the most unusual thing I have ever seen. I'll have to keep a better eye on the troops then for the next battle. I think I'll have to get use to micromanaging my troops instead of leaving it up to the A.I, I lost too many men in that battle.

I do have to say that playing this game online is quite the experience. :)

Thanks again Cleburne.

Next time Mike we should try to get you a single brigade and see how that goes.

In the mean time we need players who want to adopt Mike so we can get him high speed internet. For the price of a cup of coffee every day we can get Mike the high speed internet he deserves.

Adopt me...HAAAaaaaa. Believe me if you saw me with my big head in a basket on your doorstep your first reaction would be to stomp on it. :)

This is a very nice gesture guys but I do have to refuse. Believe me I will get high speed, it just won't be today...

Thanks again NY, I really do appreciate it. :)

I suspect it was pathing. It's best to turn on the road path icons. That way when a regiment needs to a take a strange path, you will see the road path icons pop up. That way you can click around to find a better route.
