Very odd it didn't see your av software. was the av software running at the time you started gamebooster?

did you configure game booster to stop certain background services? the whole point of running gamebooster is to stop certain services in the background which could be causing you problems.


click and drag sowgb icon to gamebooster desktop area, double tap the sowgb icon to start sowgb with gamebooster.

sometimes gamebooster will not recognize games, do it manually.

I'm going to install win8 now, oh well it's worth a try good luck.

I deactactivated every program except explorer.exe. I'll give it another try though.

It is weird, AVG is running but not listed anywhere.

Okay I need you to download something, and try this out, and see if it's the new packed technology that is causing you this issue.

I always keep a backup of the last version of sowgb on hand in case the latest full version is bunged somehow.

First deactivate your 1,4 version, uninstall it, and delete the scourge of war directory, then install this version, and use the default paths for the game.

I am wondering if your system is having a problem with the packed graphics tech being used.

It seems that file is something for compatibility issues. I'm not clear how it could be causing this issue. Meanwhile, I will try a regristery cleaner.

I'm afraid I'm out of ideas as well. Everything that I can think of that normally fixes an issue like that has not fixed the issue. You can basically rule out graphics card because you can see the "initializing" screen. But in the 2 years I have been supporting this game, I have never seen someone's game get hung on that screen. Some machines take longer to load the game than others, but I have never seen it get hung there.

If I were in your shoes and I really wanted to get the game to run, I would go as far as to try a system restore to an earlier time. Or even do a reformat of my drive and re-installation of Windows (but that just might be me). There is evidently something installed on your machine that is keeping the game from running.

Add the SOWGB directory to AVG's exception list and then reinstall the game (+latest patch) to the same folder.

One thing that my friend Chamberlain pointed out is; I don't think you have ruled out Sound.

We are grasping at straws at this point, but do you hear the intro music when you start the game? It's possible the game is getting hung on the intro music. Go to your Scourge of War - Gettysburg\Base\Music folder and rename the mp3 files to .1 or whatever you want so they won't play when the game is loaded.
