New Member from UK just want to say Hi and thanks!

Got SOW:GB, Antietam and Pipe Creek a few weeks ago and have been reading archived forum posts but not joined till today. Want to say a Great big fat thanks to Norbsoft and all the modders for a fantastic game! Its had me hooked since I bought it. After working my way through all the stock scenarios (on Normal mode) and the additonal battles and user scenarios, my latest treat has been the full 11 hr Antietam battle as the Rebs. What a nailbiter that is! Yet to play any MP, I bet thats a blast. Any fellow brits around to make time zones easier for MP play? Always had an interest in the ACW since I was a lad, lucky enough to visit the hallowed ground of GB National Park and Bull Run a good few yrs ago with a good buddy of mine from the States. My heritage has been Sid Meier, Blue & The Grey Strategy game, Talsonsoft and John Tillers ACW games and both the Mad Minute games. Didnt know this existed until a few weeks back...damn!

Theres at least one european group that I know of that play MP regularly, and its one of our bigeest groups too. I'm sure they'll spot this post and be in touch asap.

Hello Mark, yes there's a regular UK group that also includes many Americans and Europeans - we have players from Sweden, Switzerland, Germany and one ex-pat in Bangladesh

The group is a sub-section of the UK Kriegspiel Society (http://forum.kriegsspiel.org.uk/) and we gather to talk on the PC-based Kriegspiels of that forum because of the way we play which is with a POV fixed to the general (Headquarters in the Saddle or HITS) and we use couriers all the time for player to player communications as well as player to subordinate AI units. When two player generals meet on the battlefield we allow voice communications while they are together.

Effectively this gives you a first-person view of the battle with communications problems as close to reality as the software allows; if you are used to playing with a high-altitude free camera view and instant communications to your units you may find it a bit of a shock, and I know it's not to everyone's liking but we're a very friendly group and we meet at 7:30pm most UK evenings and play on as long as people want, which can be VERY late here once the American side of the group arrives to carry on.

Con20or is probably referring to our group. We have many UK-based players but also lots in the US and several in continental Europe too. We play evening (GMT) MP games each day during the week.

We're very much into the history, so try and play with authentic command constraints. So we use HITS (2yd camera distance), couriers and a chain of command. If this sounds like your thing, send me a private message and I'll give you more details. It's a very friendly group and we're always looking for more recruits.

Thanks for the quick response guys. I will indeed make contact with you both by PM and hope to enjoy my first MP (HITS) battle sometimes next week! I`d better run out and get a headset sharpish.
