Movies

Post by norb »

I love movies, rarely watch TV, but I'll always go to the movie channel and watch almost any movie.

I used to be a horror fan, but I find the horror today too disturbing. Odd, because I enjoy gore, love Hellraiser and other gore fests from the past. But when I watch stuff today, I just find it's too horrifying.

I saw Hostel, very horrifying, but he added a great ending, so you could leave with your inner peace intact.

I saw Wolf Creek, never watch that again, just too disturbing "Head on a Stick". Reststop too, just too realistic. I don't know what it is, because before 90s, etc. I never saw a horror flick that I didn't like. I do enjoy the Saw serious because it's not realistic enough and the moral choices are very interesting. But late night on Showtime they show some flicks and I just don't enjoy them much because they are just too realistic. Maybe I'm just getting old.

We also really need some new good scifi horror movies. Alien(s), Event Horizon, Sunshine, ... nothing like horror on a spaceship, but it doesn't seem like anyone is making new ones. The possibilities are endless. The silence of space and the knowledge that there is no possible help nor escape. I admit that I even really enjoyed "Jason X". My favorite killer in space, just lots of fun.

On another note. We watched "The Help" last night. Great movie! A good movie is a good movie, no matter what the genre.

I haven’t been to the movies in years, but I have seen just about all of the movies from several different sites on the Internet .

You just have to love the Internet , if it’s on this planet, it’s probably on the Internet.

The Help was a very good movie, but good movies are getting pretty hard to find.

I think that all of the great ideas have already been done. Now, it’s just a constant stream of re-makes.

I just upgraded my Dish Network package just so I could get Turner Classic Movies. We hardly go out to the movies anymore. For all the channels I get on TV I can't seem to find much I like to watch. It seems you see the same movies over and over again. This week I think they played "Sweet Home Alabama" 20 times. Give me an old John Ford movie anytime or Casablanca or Twelve O'Clock High.

Have to agree on event horizon - that one creeped me out. Amazed they didnt do a sequel.

Paranormal Activity (the first one) was pretty spooky - also if you can hunt down 'REC' (the original spanish verison, not the remake) there are some great scenes in that!

I'm with you on the Event Horizon, it was disturbing to watch (acting was crap though), but I always seem to be drawn to it if it is ever playing, I just don't know why though since I think about it for days afterward, I guess I like a good shock now, and then.

I took my mother to it....not my best idea. And when we got there we were the only two in the cinema - talk about spooky, she still hasn't forgiven me!

HAAAAaaaaaa, that would do it!
I have only had that experience once. I can't remember the movie but I was the only one in there...nice to have a theatre to oneself.

I just saw 'The Woman in Black' - it was really, really creepy. One of the most intense horrors I've ever been to. The kind that makes you want to hug the first person you see when you leave the cinema.

I had read the book years ago but couldnt remember much of it except the setting.

Plus I was pleasantly surprised that I could watch Daniel Radcliffe in a different role without thinking , "Harry Potter, Harry Potter, Harry Potter, Harry Potter, Harry Potter......"

that is movie I would like to see.

I think the movies that terrify me the most though are movies that deal with Demonic possession. The last movie of that genera was "The exorcism of Emily Rose" haunted me for weeks. I just can't handle them, and won't go near them no matter how great the ratings.

For now I stick too watching the T.V series called "The River". The guy who directed the Paranormal movies is directing this series...that's about the strongest I can take at the moment.
