I love IE 8. It looks sleek, does have internet safety, and along with the ride is the tabs!

Not to bring a thread back from the dead, but in my MaximumPC mag I got this month they recommended opera if you didn't like using Firefox or IE. I have been using IE 8 and it has some really slow loading times.

I remembered that norb said he used opera too, so I downloaded it and BAMMMM, what a difference. Fast load times and browsing the internet is a pretty good experience. I will have to learn some of the different features but it is much faster than IE.
I've been using Opera for a few years now and I am very happy. I love the magic wand that remembers users names and passwords for you. It's a great feature. One thing that you have to remember is that opera does not use a java plugin. So you must download and install the JRE yourself, otherwise a lot of pages won't work.

I've got a love-hate thing with IE8 especially since its crashed on me a few times. One thing i found that speeds up IE downloads a little, just a little, is to disable the anti-phishing feature which i believe is the default.

I've been using FireFox for a couple of years. It's noticeably faster than IE any#. It is so much better that over 1/2 of the people where I work have it installed in direct violation of the 'rules' from the IT shop.

I already have java on my PC, I have noticed already there are a few pages that don't work like they use to, I will have to find how to get them working.

Jim, that certainly hasn't been my experience! :S
I did a side by side comparison and FireFox will soon be deleted from my PC!

Yes, I've also found that some pages won't work in Opera. Some of my bank's pages won't load, then I go to IE for them. I've got about a 99% success rate though.

Hey ironsight, if you disable anti-phishing, are you opening yourself up to identity theft & e-mail scams too ?

Or, are you just disabling, downloading your files & then turning the phishing back on ?
