LN,

Good chance here. Most of the French-Bavarians are what I call "Ready-go's," since they are already done in another OOB or two. Will have a look at this as soon as I can. Yes, I have Gills book, but it's STILL buried in storage and as such, unavailable to me right now.

That looks like a fun OOB. I have all the units except for the Wurttemberg Chevaulegers and possibly Bavarian Leib battalion if they look different to to Line infantry.

Infanterie der Linen:

It looks to me like just the facings and the frogging (is that th eright word?) on the cuffs and lapels. Pretty minor elements, although the cuffs and coat front is moderately noticeable.

From Cantler:

And the whole site, which is a stunning resource, most useful because many illustrations are contemporary and therefore less likely to have errors:

I would say from far away on a real battlefield you would notice no difference. They were just line infantry with no different training but the 1st had silver lace and 2nd had gold lace. The battle is really interesting because Thierry the austrian commander against the Bavarian first division decided to retreat to a position he believed to be held be friendly forces. However, that small force under Pflanzelter seeing Morands cavalry left Bachl unoccupied. When the Bavarians pushed forward their attack against Thierry he was forced to retreat and ran straight into Morands division. He was completely surprised my the 1st and 2nd Chasseurs a cheval, and 13th leger on his flank. He was cut to pieces and even captured. Radetkzy and Bianchi who commanded to the south west of thierry were pushed back by the 2nd Bavarian division and troops under the Wurt light brigade under Hugel control. Interesting Hiller took command over his corps and Archduke Ludwigs corps since he was senior commander. He sent a message to Ludwig that he would bring 2 brigades to help in 3 hours but the French and Bavarians including Zandts cavalry from the first division were hot on the retreating Austrians. This is where it seems Hillers corps really came into play during the battle. Two regiments of French cuirassiers even took place in the pursuit of Thierrys command.

Sorry for the ramble but I like this campaign and am a huge fan of the Bavarians! Here is some pictures of Wurt Chevaulegers and 1st and 2nd Bavarian Leib and Kronprinz

Thanks Saddletank and LN. I didnt relise in my source that the Garde a pied was the Leib battalion. By the looks of it they had a jacket lace stuff similar in style to the Konig Jager but with silver lace, and of course blue jacket (1a below).

I agree that the lace looks perfect but I think the front lapel is too short for a Bavarian lapel. The french post Bardin uniform seems to be closer in cut to the Bavarian uniform. The uniform 2e might be the best.

Ahh sorry i got my germans mixed up there for a second. Those were Wurttembergers. This is the Bavarian uniform (leib battlion is number 1):

With the cross belts covering the front there would only be a minor difference between the uniforms of Leib and Line infantry. However its always nice to have different uniforms for the elite regiments so will add the Leib uniform to the list, in the mean time use the line infantry sprite.

I figured that is what you did B) You know I think I love the napoleonic war because I am a big fan of uniforms and how you can at least for everyone but France can tell the regiment at a distance just by their facing color. The more color you give the Bavarians the better! I am surprised you went with the 13th Regiment in game instead of the cornflower blue and yellow most game designers go for but I think it is a great combo black red and cornflower blue.
