He truly was the greatest. I remember listening to his first fight against Floyd Patterson on the radio; that's how far I go back.
Stripping him of his title in his prime and not allowing him to fight for 5 years is one of the great travesties in sports.

I remember listening to the radio with my Dad when Floyd Patterson regained the title by defeating Ingemar Johannson. My father never went to movies, with one exception: when the newsreels at the movies featured highlights of championship fights, he would always take me just to see the highlights, while I enjoyed the movie.
The only time my mother let any of the family eat supper at somewhere other than the dinner table was when I was allowed to take my plate with me to the den where I listened to championship fights on the radio with my Dad.
Good memories.

Ali - Frazier II was the first closed circuit boxing event I attended .... thanks for the memory.
This should probably go in the Music Corner .... but it is a boxing song.
