A problem with the new 10 Mile Map

This is where our experts try to teach you the very flexible modding system for our previous release - SOW Gettysburg and its add-ons. It's powerful, but dangerous. Post your tips and your questions.

A problem with the new 10 Mile Map

Post by cliometrician »

I have the latest patch: 1.5001, I downloaded and installed the 10MM in my Mods folder, highlighted it in Modifications, but in trying to play a scenario the screen froze on the words "loading sandbox." So I deselected all my mods except the 10MM and I got the same frozen screen.

Any suggestions?

I also had that problem following the 1.5 patch, but not with the 10 mile map mod (that loads up ok for me). It was the Secessionville mod, I beleive.

When the screen sticks on "loading sandbox", try tapping the space bar. That seems to have done the trick.

That said, I don't appear to be having any freezes anymore, although not played much since either.

Also, I was using my old SOW desktop shortcut, which bypassed the Matrix screen. Perhaps that was my prob.

I have never tried playing the game except Sandbox \ Open Engagements , but I have seen the game paused before loading for some reason or another.

As mentioned above, just pressing the space-bar loaded the game, this probably happens once in every hundred games.

Also - I still use the original SOW shortcut, I have never used the other one that was placed on the desktop.

But, I doubt that that would cause any problems, they are both directed to the same exe .

BTW - How much memory are you running in your System?

I have 6 megs of RAM and have never had any problem running anything. Now here's something else, perhaps connected. After I deleted the 10MM I played a couple of other scenarios. The game paused at Press Space Bar just like it had for the map mod. This had never happened before. I then hit the ESC key, and the game loaded. Same thing for the next game. Strange.

This has happened to me, probably everyone at one time or another.

If the SOWGB .txt file is not showing any error's , it's probably just a random act of the game, memory , etc .

I just wish it was as simple as that for the new 10 mile map mod. It simply will not load.

Do your SOWGB .txt file show any errors?

Also - you are patched to the latest version of the game, correct?

The only other thing would be a corrupt download!

I am going to try another installation. Yes, I have the latest version of 1.5, and I have no idea where to find the SOWG txt. file

Fingers crossed.

Davinci, thank you for the quick response in helping me. I installed again and this time it downloaded. I just had to hit the space bar twice. And thanks for the heads up on the txt. file
