Question about orders: Free text

I would just like my regiment occasionally to move forward a few yards. there is no good command courier text for that one. so what is up with the free text option?
I enter the following: " move your unit forward 5 yards"
nothing happens.
What is the free text function for then if you cannot use it to move your troops up a few yards?

The free text is strictly for chat. Advance specific amount of yards would, and could be modded for your particulars. The game is set up for modding, try it, or make a request.

The Courier&MiniMaps mod already has that feature in it.

Its for multiplayer games - you can send more complicated messages to human players and really adds to the immersion.

As MTG says- his mod has a number of specified distances for moving forward. If they are too big, you can make smaller increments that suit you.
