This is good to hear.To be fair I don't think PC gaming will go extinct. Consoles have much broader appeal in the USA than overseas. Especially Asia is still fixated on PC gaming and most professional gaming competitions play out via PC still.
The fact is while the million copy games with AAA studio support will become more sparse there will be for quiet a long time and the foreseeable future remain a core of hard core gamers who support PC games and niche studios like Matrix and Norbsoft.
That is... if Microsoft doesn't turn the PC into the tablet sphere.

But just because PC's might go from 50%, to 15% to 10% of the gaming industry doesn't mean the industry wont remain. Look at board games, there are still many small companies churning them out and many people still buy them even though they have been obsolete for years.
I I know numerous mid 20 year olds who prefer the PC because it offers a more intense and better gaming experience with an average higher quality game than consoles.

Anything, but a start button?Microsoft has just fired the long term executive in charge of MS Windows weeks after the launch of Windoes 8. He was the one who promoted the elimination of the Start button. The launch must really being going bad for them to fire him like this, if for no other reason than to avoid the negative PR.

Yeah, I've been staying up on this. Interesting, the other day I was checking with Best Buy about upgrading my system...they're sold out of Win 7 on their online store, that's a BIG omen since this is their national outlet. They also hinted that their machines with pre installed Win 8 aren't moving.
