Artillery Limber Question

Post by Zeke »

Hi There Guys

If you please a quick question.....I'm creating a new ACW OOB pack at the moment and making a couple of amendments to the files using the new SDK pack for 1.6

whilst I was testing my latest OOB I noticed that all the cannons limbered were portraying the Brass style cannon even though I was wanting to portray Iron Parrott rifles - when they unlimber sure enough the appropriate cannon appears I checked the unit global file and there appears to be only one limber for the Brass cannon and no iron cannons is that correct? - It's stupid with all the hours I have played this amazing game but I have never noticed this before!!! :pinch:

By the way loving the improvements to 1.6 in particular the cavalry .....they rock now :)

Zeke - I think that you misunderstood what I was trying to say.

As far as I know, My game displays both types of cannons. I use the Union Cannons for the Confederates, but the brass are brass limbered, and unlimbered.

Just as the iron cannons are iron limbered, and unlimbered.

Which is controlled by the unitmodel file.

Just curious - what was changed exactly? I'm having trouble seeing any difference.

Seriously!

The cavalry are far more aggressive they will now charge the enemy where as before they would constantly pull back even when they had full strength and moral which could get really frustrating.

Defensively they put up a must sterner resistance again not constantly pulling back as before - They even advance at the run towards the enemy when they are having the better of it in a fight a tactic that the cavalry did use during the war

They last longer in Melee which is now a far better spectacle and when they do withdraw they don't run off the map nearly I've seen cavalry take a beating withdraw a few hundred feet regroup and charge again!! without any "TC-ing" them.

So its just down to their stats in the OOB?

No we changed how the OOB stats were interpreted internally by the game engine.

Aha, thanks. Is that explained in the v1.61 SDK? I need to go look these shiny new things up!
