Re: NorbSoftDev Announces Waterloo!!!
Garnier's right, just because the v2 engine will be used initially to run Napoleonic games that does not mean that SoW:Gettysburg will suddenly vanish and as someone said elsewhere I see no reason why an ACW mod could not be made from a Napoleonic game engine when a very good Napoleonic mod has been made from the ACW engine.
HITS & Couriers - a different and realistic way to play SoW MP.
Re: NorbSoftDev Announces Waterloo!!!
Kaschykb please don't dismiss this next release out of hand. I understand Waterloo may not be your favorite battle or what you wanted next but keep this in mind. A key design element to the next game will be moddablity. The over arching focus is that we want to make sure that Scourge of War is mod friendly. While we have seen some modders do incredible things with Scourge of War Gettysburg the game was not designed with the intent of making things as open as possible for modders, Scourge of Waterloo has that as a key priority.Sorry but I can't help but say I'm extremely disappointed. I thought I heard positive rumors about Shiloh. Oh well, guess I'll have to look somewhere else for my ACW gaming until the NorbSoft team revisits it.
So while maybe Waterloo isn't what you are looking for we are confident our incredibly loyal community will use the tools that are being built into the next game to provide you the types of battles you want to see within the next release (Waterloo).

Not interested but when there's a Civil War mod that uses all the new features I may reconsider.
Re: NorbSoftDev Announces Waterloo!!!
In the podcast they did talk about going back to the ACW after they finish waterloo and with all of the improvements to the game engine that they are developing now. I'm excited about them making the game mod friendly especially the ability to make your own maps.
I'm also excited about Waterloo because it was a battle I was interested in learning more about and how battles were fought at the time.

I also prefer Civil War battles, but this is Waterloo!! So I'm on board.

No surprise they do Waterloo first, but I'm really more interested in other Napoleonic battles besides Waterloo.
ACW is still first in my book, however. I look forward mostly to all future ACW offerings, whether mods or standalone games.

Re: NorbSoftDev Announces Waterloo!!!
Great news Norb.
Looking forward to Waterloo.
Can you share what, if any, changes to the game system are in the works to reflect the tactics of the time?
Different formations? Use of skirmishers? Cavalry charges and counter-charges? Effect of leaders on units? Will the different national armies have different capabilities?
Please don't be discouraged by folks who say they aren't interested in the Napoleonic Wars.
There are plenty of people who are, and this title is bound to broaden your customer base.
