Hey all,
apologies straight away if I have posted this in the wrong category. I searched for a dedicated screenshots category but didn't find what I was looking for, so hope this doesn't offend anyone.
I was messing around with some photo filter software and some screenshots from SOW and ended up with a great look that I felt improved over the original (of course, it's all a matter of personal preference).
Then I tried to use post-processing software in-game to try and achieve a similar look during actual play (ala enbseries mod).
I couldn't get quite the same effect because I'm a rank amateur at all this stuff, but I found a happy compromise that made the visual element of the game far more appealing to me (without wanting to take away from the very pleasing visuals already part of the vanilla experience).
It occurred to me how very important lighting and the right filters are to achieving the right atmosphere in any game, and I'm very happy to see great improvements in the early Waterloo screenshots.
I guess I just wanted to encourage the NSD team to remain mindful of the value of lighting, particularly in these days of "next-gen".
I include two screenshots from Chancellorsville, one vanilla and one "filtered" for comparison. (Hopefully they appear in the post, this is my first post. If no images appear would someone be kind enough to give me a pointer about posting jpgs. Thank you in advance.).

Re: Filters and Lighting
To Moderator,
seems my images aren't showing up. IS this because screenshots aren't permitted in the Discussion category? Should I repost in AAR section? Sorry for the trouble.
Thanks.

First : Welcome :
The Firefox will not allow attachments, you must use the Internet Explorer to show the screenshots.
After you click the Add File then click the Insert button to include the screenshot in your post.

The only true logic is that, there is no true logic!

Thanks so much for the amazingly quick reply, and helpful one at that. I had no idea Firefox was the problem. Thanks again! :cheer:

Re: Filters and Lighting
I have Firefox and post screenshots regularly. I don't post them direct to this forum though because I have my own place that hosts all my images so I can keep ownership of them. I upload them there and just link to them from here. Photobucket will work for example.

Re: Filters and Lighting
We will have some improvements in WL. We have recently found some issues with the base game engine that had some fairly basic graphics things disabled/broken. As we get these things fixed or activated, the differences will be seen in upcoming screen shots.
However, experience has shown that there are no settings or adjustments that will satisfy everyone. If we can get to reasonable agreement on the team that is what we go with.
