If it's crashing that early, it sounds like the installer is corrupt. If you haven't already, I would try redownloading the game as it's possible it was a bad download.

I suppose it couldn't be linked to a corrupt language file for the french install version? Try load it in the english version please corsin.

I thought you could do it on the matrix load page but it seems I was incorrect. I notice there are 2 run options in your Windows Start menu - try them both.

Scourge of War Waterloo
Scourge of War - Waterloo

One defaults straight to the main menu.

I do not understand your answer, it is true that I have tried so many methods to start this game I probably left everywhere files each time, I even tried to install it in "scourge of gettysburg war ", which made it unusable game after uninstalling Waterloo. I'm not all the same the only French to have bought this game, I know that there are fans of this period despite the theme.

One of the start menu options is for the game menu, the other is for the quick start (goes directly into the game, bypassing the menu with the link to the manual etc.)

This is a very odd problem that no one else is reporting. Are you still getting those same log errors that you posted earlier? If so, I'll have to pass this on to Norb. See if he can make anything of those errors.

Was reported twice for GB, 1 in the forum and IIRC 1 per support mail.

EDIT: Probably the solution http://www.matrixgames.com/forums/fb.asp?m=3636901
