Certainly, you could actually watch Gettysburg take place. Make in an expansion, but it would be SOOOO awesome!

There has been a little internal discussion of making a 'Study Sim' mod that is not for playing but is a fully scripted recreation that is as close to history as currently possible. We might try some of the smaller actions at 1:1 to see how large an action that can be done with. There is much to explore with this game engine.

In regards to the idea of a 1:1 recreation of a battle--WOW!

The possibilities are fabulous for the educational field. British television did an ancient battles show using the Empire Total War Rome engine.

And, to Joshua Chamberlain, regarding Cold Mountain--

The book, Cold Mountain, was a beautifully crafted novel. Put it on your summer reading iist and enjoy the nuances of it. I think the movie got a lot of things right in regards to the tone of the book, the insanity of the Battle of the Crater, the fiddle music of Ruby's father, the shape note singing in the church, the casting and characters of the two women, the flavor of North Carolina during the war. The book is not about a Civil War battle, the battle is a backdrop that is a starting point for a remarkable journey back home. I had the pleasure of reading the book by torchlight while camping for several weeks in central North Carolina. It was an experience that I will long savor.

I may do so if I have nothing to do while I'm working at camp.

indeed sounds great

heres an idea/s make scenarios where the player can only control the supply wagon or supply route or couriers or a blank graphics file and have the gen move at lighting speed to viewing stages

once with the old game i made a ob that basically had a invisible gen it would load the camara but not the model, it aloud me to watch the openplay battle play out [ai controlled] i forgot how i did it lol but it was cool..B)

Oh goodness gracious, I thought this was gonna be serious. Oh, well there is always hope. I do want a movie on the battle of Antietam.
