Re: Problem porting sprites
Well the KS mod is trying to revert the toolbar to something like the GB one because we all prefer it! We are unanimous in disliking the pop-up context menu and the lack of a button tab that is cav-inf-art officer specific.
To be blunt, it sucks.
The new MyGUI toolbar is far less flexible, adaptable and user friendly than the old system. MyGUI also adds more work for OOB creators.
The new courier message pop-up system is just ... terrible. A terrible decision. I get simply worn-out in MP games being frustrated by it popping up and closing my messages.
I even tried to save an SP game just now and a new AI message pop-up closed that dialogue box as well! Aargh!
I'd love to know who it was who complained about the GB toolbar - for a fact not one single user on these forums did. And if the grogs loved it, why not keep it? Aren't the grogs your most committed players who'll be here years in the future playing this when the average-joe players have long moved on? Or are you only interested in sales numbers?

HITS & Couriers - a different and realistic way to play SoW MP.
Re: Problem porting sprites
Saddletank - this thread relates to sprites - the courier messages and toolbars have multiple threads and we have already told you it is logged.

I complained about it - so did my nephew. He is a younger generation wargamer and found it too confusing - I did too and mush prefer the new system. The game is aimed at everyone - young, old, grog, casual - anyone interested in history and wargaming - thats why its has so many options and support from within the team for grog toolbars. If we are interested in just sales numbers we would make a fantasy mech armour game for twitch fans.I'd love to know who it was who complained about the GB toolbar - for a fact not one single user on these forums did. Re: Problem porting sprites
Well done on getting the sprites in game.A quick question if I may Tim, where do I need to look to learn how to make the overlay sprites, I use 3dmax, but haven't found the settings to adjust the alpha channel to blank out the horse, I'm sure I'm it's somthing simple.
Thanks.
For overlay sprites first make the following material in Max
Its a matte/shadow material and has no alpha and receives no shadows. Make sure you uncheck those boxes.
Apply that to all bits of the model you want to hide. You can apply it to parts of a mesh by selecting polygons and just applying to those polygons on a model that already has a texture applied. So you can block off trousers or jackets or heads etc.
Hope that helps - let me know if you have more questions.

Re: Problem porting sprites
Thanks for the quick answer Tim, saved me hours on Google. I'll see if I can get it to work later.
Re: Problem porting sprites
Don't forget to apply it to the ground plane too otherwise you get darker messed up shadows.
Re: Problem porting sprites
Ok, so it would seem that my memory is getting worse by the day, as soon as I started looking at the map, I realised that's the method you use to add the shadow into the sprites. :silly:
Thanks for the help, sorry for being a bit dim.

Re: Problem porting sprites
Hi Saddletank,
Thanks for the reply. I just happened to read a series of somewhat pessimistic feedback in a single morning's forum posts. I am exclusively sandbox, once I have tinkered a bit with the initial scenarios, but I thrive on new maps and OOB's.
Following your glowing recommendations in recent weeks, I did indeed apply to Kriegspiel for registration. Got my details accepted into an account and ten days ago was advised as follows from a no-reply site.
"Your account is currently inactive, the administrator of the board will need to activate it before you can log in. You will receive another e-mail when this will be done."
And that's the last I have heard !! Probably an error in transmission, or perhaps this "Star Chamber" only meets infrequently. I recall no damning past military misdemeanours and the, last time I checked, my balls were certainly not black.
I don't quite know where to follow it up. Any help would be appreciated.
Best regards,
Geoff Laver

Hi Geoff
Sorry you've had problems with registering. As far as I can see, you are now a bona fide member, so I suggest you try and post on the forum. Send me a PM if you have any difficulty.
Welcome to the group. There is no star chamber btw :woohoo:
Best regards
