After you reach the Rank of 2nd Lieutenant (300 points) you will never go below 300 points. You only gain points if your team wins a ranked battle. Ranked battles can only occur with 4 or more players. Example a 2v2 minimum. Any battles with less then 4 players , even though campaign troops are used. There will be no point loss or gain, nor any casualty s inflicted, to your multiplayer campaign divisions.

As for how points are divided up , after your team wins depends on your current rank. Lower ranks receive more points for a win . As apposed to higher ranked player which whom will receive less points . Also I think points during a win might be awarded more for performance on casualties , and also holders and wagons belonging to your division , holding an objective, and also capturing artillery , cavalry or other infantry regiments.
