Can't find a file

Post by Jack ONeill »

Hey All,

For the life of me, I can't find the text document in SOWWL which says "you screwed up, this didn't load right because the game can't find it and so CTD". In SOWGB it is a SOWGB text document in the "Works" folder, but I can't find anything like that in SOWWL. I trying to port over a flag from SOWGB to SOWWL, but no joy.

Thoughts?

Hey Jack

Glad to hear from you again. About your flag dilemma, don't even try if you don't know the differences between the two games. I basically understand both games and the differences between them, and, it would still be a challenge (mainly time-wise) for me to explain or show you how to port flags between the two games. Having said this there may be someone that has worked this out and can show you an already-tested path. Eventually our (NSD) plan is to have the Civil War engine adapted to the WL engine. When this comes to fruition it will be a lot easier to port sprites and functions between games. In the meantime, if you don't get a response about this be patient, because new, more compatible SOW games are on the horizon.

Hi Jack, I think you mean the log file

It's located in your Documents/SOWWL folder.

RB and Biondo,

Reb - thanks for the reply. I have been able to port over troop sprites in the past from SOWGB to SOWWL. That worked with very minor glitches. The flag thing stumps me, as it should be roughly the same. I think it may have something to do with the Flag sprites being tga files and also the gfx / gfxpack csv files. So, I weaseled on it, stopped looking to port the Russian flags, and went with an Austrian mod, using the flags from the Solferino mod. (Weaseled totally, using the almost white uniforms from the SOWWL 2nd Line Prussians as 1813 Austrians). :D

Biondo - Thanks Brother, I'll hunt that down and advise.

About the flags, take the following as suggestion and make proper backups:

From my experience, Gettysburg flags ported over Waterloo can still stay in the original Flags folder, just create one in the Waterloo Graphics folder.

The flags have to be added in Logistics/gfx file but there's a difference between Gettysburg and Waterloo gfx file: Gettysburg gfx has 6 more columns that must be deleted to match the Waterloo gfx file format, basically the columns from H to M (Hi Res sprites).

Then it should work if i'm not missing some steps

B,

Brilliant!!!! Thanks. I'll do a "compare and contrast" to see if that works. Will Advise.
