Is this simply a directX update to fix this issue?

Even though I had serious sound problems I purchased the game today as I know it will get sorted soon. I loved TC2M and if I get even 20% of the enjoyment I had from it I’ll be happy. Well done Norb and everyone involved.
OK back to this sound problem can someone explain about this Direct x update and perhaps give a download link I’ve no idea what it is. At present my battles are like that ancient silent Civil war movie from around 1915

Ignore the above I found the link to Direct X posted on a thread here and the good news is it worked for me. Sounds are working fine now :)

This is just amazing! Thank you guys for finding this fix. That's it's really just a DX update to fix the sounds. We will have to add that to the readme.

What, exactly, do the rest of us have to do to implement this fix?

Download and install the latest DirectX9 package.

I've installed this and still get the echo effects unless I uncheck in my X-Fi Fatality control panel EAX. Then echoing is gone. I don't have to go in dxdiag and turn off acceleration.

Haven't had time to find out if the new DX helps with missing sounds.

I do not know if this is the "fix", but it definitly was "my fix".

I went from hearing very minimal, very muffled sound that even on the loudest setting was barely audible, to having all sounds louder than i would like them if i prefered. In other words, from somethign wrong, to working. Sounds great, btw!

I actually googled around for an authentic rebel yell sound, and found where you got the sound file for the game form :)
very authentic! (A digital multiplaction of one rebel yell taht was recorded a long time ago- at least according to the site)
